hey sid i want u back in making patches. Ur th e best man. plsssssss come back................ :cheers :cheers :cheers :cheers :cheers :cheers :cheers :hpraise :hpraise :hpraise :hpraise :hpraise

ok,Ive been having a few pm and posts here as well asking me to make and ai as well as member's telling me how to make an ai,so Ive decided to combine the two,and Ill make a decentish but a pretty simple ai and at the same time explain in detail the procedure's to make an ai.I hope member's would use this to either learn making ai's for the game and/or enjoy the ai made in the process. However as my exams are soon going to start Ill keep updating the thread only when I get the time.Cheers.

THE LONG WALKTHROUGH BEGINS

FIRST WORDS

As many of you know Ive not been making AI patches for long and so this next AI patch come tutorial would be treated as though I dont remember the previous values. This tutorial or walkthrough should help people understand the thinking's and procedures on how to get a make a decent AI patch and
what he should think when he wants to make an AI.With time and more version's these assumptions of the values should improve with more game time and feedback.Thank You.

FIRST STEPS

The first thing that we need to do is to get the original files located inside the gob that we want to edit.As I myself need them for the ai,I just
use biggui and open the data_pc.gob file and extracted the two .big files which are:

430834dfd47be8b1eaa97fa22706133a.big and

2bb7ad25c9aa96dc7b6f670d84a4df83.big.

TIP:A good tip for begginer's is always to try and first edit the
2bb7ad25c9aa96dc7b6f670d84a4df83.big file before doing anything with
the other big file.

This is how the big file looks like when opened with BigGui.

Simply use Edit->Extract and extract all the item's in a folder.

Look how Ive done so in a folder called My AI.

Now you can open these files and have a look at them(just peep in using Notepad or Config Editor).

Try having a look at Boss's Ai tutorial for c2k4 as well,it has helped me a lot and it is very useful.
But I feel that member's need to know what sort of a thinking and thoughts they need to put in while making and AI patch and this will act as a simulation and an example on this aspect.

EDITING OUR FIRST FILE(l_easy.cfg)

ok,so Ill first explain what the l_easy.cfg file contain's and means.

Here l stand's for a limited overs international ai which can be a 10,20,45 or a 50 over match
in cricket 2005.The easy stands for the cpu and ai behaviour in easy difficulty level i.e when
the user selects easy as his difficulty mode before the game.

This is how the file look's more or less on opening(can be really confusing at first look :p)

UNDERSTAND EACH VALUES AND SETTING ACCORDINGLY

I'll be using some of Boss's quotes here to some of the meaning's of the terms as I dont think anyone else could explain it any better.I hope he doesnt mind this.

Diff Level-This is the first one we need to change,it stands for the human diffiiculty level as it is under Human Stroke difficulty, easy enough to understand.

Boss' Quotes:1. DiffLevel:

This is the Important Parameter. It actually describes the Difficulty of the Human Player in every aspect. That is timing of the shot, Edges, Batsmen Confidence of going after the ball etc. This parameter is related with all the other parameters. Lesser Difficulty Means we can find the placing and timing of the stroke soon, Vast direction of the shots, Good Power to the shots, Less no of Edges, More Confidence and viceversa for Higher difficulty.

Excellently described.Easy to understand why he is the best AI patcher around.

So we can see that this value is 0.00 by default which means that it is having no difficulty at all or in other words least difficulty.

At this stage we need to decide what kind of a patch we want to make,an easy patch which is enjoyable but provides a lot of runs and one sided contest,a really challenging patch which will make for some really hard work or something else.

For this patch Ill try keeping a balance between the two but it never becomes perfect on first tries.

So I think that 0.00 is too less,we dont want it that easy even though we are in easy mode. But we dont want it too high either.I feel that a value of generally 1-3 puts a decent setting whereas anything below or higher may depend according to your patch ideas.Ill try keeping the values 1.5 and adjusting this later according to feedback.

Hey Sid,

If its not much trouble for you, can you post the direction wheel as well as all the stokelist........thanxz in advance..............

:cheers

Now onto to the next value i.e Score Bias.

Here are Boss's comments

2. ScoreBias:

This is the scoring difference between top order, middle order, lower order and tailender batsmen in the team.i.e, Over all difference between quality teams and lesser quality teams and sums it up in the final result. Larger this parameter means there is plenty of difference in scoring between the team and vice versa for lower value.

I think that's pretty simple enough to understand.Since we want a good deal of realism, but we dont want it too high so that the tailenders get out as soon as they are in,I mean they do have the ability at times to hold up an end.

So the default value needs to be raised but slightly for the easy mode,so lets try something like 1.3.Like I said we can always adjust them later as we know more abt the patch via testing and feedback.
