South Africa in Australia

Looks like Australia are not interested. I think its going to be a bore.

lololololol

What a ridiculous statement. Hayden is playing his part of the plan, Langer went out after 5 smashes through the covers and Ponting is freely playing his shots. Expect each batsman to have a swing so long as Hayden survives.

I'll be very impressed if this Ponting-Hayden thing lasts, but yeah, if it's this easy the whole day, it would be very anti-climactic.

They will need the fill day. 4 an over on the last day on the SCG is extremely tricky. Especially if you lose wickets. Hayden, Hodge and Hussey must be the anchors. The rest can do what they usually do.

Interesting read on foxsports that Smith was thinking that Aus faulter when chasing last and the number 287 isn't the luckiest for Aus. Lets see if that is the case here.

Edit: Aus are flying right now. Hayden not as quick as the run a ball Ponting but still going at a very good rate.

It looks like Australia will break the 100+ year's old runchase at the Sydney Cricket Ground.

Ponting is in great form. He has a fifty and could make another century now.

Both Hayden and Ponting should make 100s. Only them getting out will stop it. With 131 and both guys needing about 30 runs they should both get a 100. Ponting's form right now is matching that of 2004.

Ponting made about 1544 runs and Hayden about 1380 runs past year. If they keep on going like that they could reach the 1000 runs in this year again.

Ponting could be the first player to score two centuries on his 100th Test.

ponting was the first aust to score 100 on 100 test

anyhow Smtih has some talking to do

Rule 1 dont give Aust a chance to win
Rule 2 when you play Aust get into a position where you can;'t lose then try to win
Rule 3 Pollack was smashing it around if you batted for 30 mins more have a lead of say 340 aust would have to take risks and they would have had more of a chance

Ponting will break 1000 this year easily unless injury or a bad form slump strikes. Hayden should be able to extend his record breaking successive 1000 runs.

Great stuff from Hayden and Ponting thus far, a win is on the cards but remember, no other team in the world collapses quite like Australia. Doesn't matter what form of the game, or the composition of the team, there will always be a period in an innings where there will be at least 2 or 3 wickets falling in quick time.

Would be quite a feat to record the highest ever total to win in a fourth innings given how long the record has stood and the fact that they were given only two sessions to do it.

This is not a typical SCG pitch. It's been easy batting all through and lets not forget this has really only taken 3-4 days of wear.

At the moment it's just a matter when Australia will wrap up this and not if. Kallis played way to slow I would say. If someone in the second innnings is to blame it's him. He should have hitted like Pollock did.

Against India in Waugh's last ever game Aus made 340 while chasing. That suggests the SCG isn't what it use to be.
