South Africa in England July-Sept 2012

Forgot to say that's 75 runs behind so should be knocked off in the next session, assuming England bat long enough.

I see the BBC had the cricket on the homepage at some stage overnight, but it is now gone again. Today the articles blocking this clash of the titans are :

"British sport boosted by games" - nothing Olympic opinion
manu chase Lucas - transfer gossip
Title race open - F1 drivers opinion
Modric fined - something of nothing piece

And three other Olympic "headlines". Two opinions, gossip and a story about a footballer blocking out a live event :noway

England are gonna see this draw out and win 2-0, mark my words. Can't believe Broad still gets a game. where on earth is tremlett? or even Finn. Broad is hopeless - he is in for his batting, lets see if the selection pays off cause his bowling is second rate. you will never convince me otherwise. i dont care if he occassionally takes 6 for under heavy cloud.

Im stuck in kazakhstan and can only monitor the game via cricinfo or internet radio (radio 5 it seems). can michael vaughan string a single comment together without a 2005 reference? blimey. get over it mate - he sounds a bit bitter that that win is sliding into the past after englands 2 most recent ashes wins.

been interesting to see the tables turned weather wise for england at home. in the 09 ashes except for the one test that australia won, Australia bowled in bright sunshine every time and the clouds came over whenever england bowled. likewise against india, it was bordering on unfair. its the sort of things that happen when your team is going well. Australia used to have that sort of luck as well. but the thing that will catch SA out is when we see a more common english test match where the sun isnt out for 4/5 days. I think the english batsmen are better equipped overall.

if england see out the first hour without loss, they are home.

Morgan for the second test, please. I was genuinely disappointed by Bopara's inclusion inspite of his rather "heroic" performances in the ODI series against Australia, and no wonder he proves me right by failing yet again. Just saw his dismissal - absolutely awful! Never a bowler's wicket, that.

Hope you didnt mark my words!!

Ha. well done to south africa - definately going for them. heck, being aussie i always go for the underdog. never really felt any dislike for them, perhaps because cricinfo never gets carried away with their status. will see if the south african journalists jump in and are ridiculous as the english and indian journalists were when they both became number one. its never the team that you hate, its the journalists and their stupid articles you want to belt (and I guess some idiotic comments). whereas when australia was top - all you had was every journalist, even the supposed australian journalists (read that guy who jumped out a window) dismissing australia for everything they were worth. maybe that only came in the later years. not saying this series is over - but there were some insanely premature articles written for both this english side and the indian side when they were barely a series into their number one status.

South Africa will whitewash England :clap and become the no.1 test team .:cheers

englands tail surprisingly meek here. it's been a while since no one in the bottom four hasn't been able to provide some significant resistance, I am saying this with bresnan and anderson still out there though, so I wouldn't be too surprised if they make south africa bat again.

Still three hours are left and I am sure that Anderson and Bresnon will not be able to provide africa a trail of 100 or they will not survive any longer as Steyn gets back in the attack .

South Africa is the best team in the world. Finish, Klaar. Despite what the stats have said we have been the best team in the world for a while now.Is there anyone out there who wants to argue the toss?? Because I've been biding my time watching you guys talk utter crap about England (South Africa B team including that idiot Pietersen), knowing you were not correct and just waiting for an absolute annihilation as we have just witnessed! How on earth can you call yourselves the best cricket team in the world, even before this match it was a totally ridiculous statement.

Let's wait for the whole series shall we?
Obviously we played crap in this match but SA's recent record isn't really all that great. Just wish it was a 5 test series.

well, it's not helped by south africa's tendency to inexplicably self destruct.

weirdly, you're a lot better away from home, your home form is why you can't take an iron grip over the no.1.

even as someone that really likes sri lanka how you conspired to get beat by them now, with their reserve pace attack in green seaming conditions, I don't know. see also draws v australia and india etc.

EXACTLY! It must be relieving to see an Australian choke for a South African to win something :D

I'm on a roll now! Yes Dear, it was extremely satisfying! Not least because Ernie displayed absolute sportsmanship and truth in admitting that he should not have won, a view held by pretty much all of us. I don't think you will find many of us rubbing it in, we aren't assholes. Scott had a slight woopsy that's all, he still played the best golf and we salute him, even if one of us won at his expense. That's what separates us from you!

What records are you looking at? I think the records speak for themselves.
