South Africa tour of India 2022(5 T20Is)

So far, India has played the 3rd highest number of ODIs since then.
And we are still not sure about our XI. We still have no idea about our no.4 (an issue that existed pre-2019 WC). We don't have a finisher. We aren't sure about who will be our spinners. It's just been musical chairs around!

And how often have we played this team? Also why there are doubts regarding many spots in the side. Whose XI is this, Rahul Dravid?

Shreyas Iyer has been dropped?

It is my XI. Which I feel should play the CWC 2023.

Rahul can bat in the middle, giving us a left-right opening combo in Rohit and Kishan. I do see bright chances for Kishan to play in the XI, even when Rohit and Kohli are around.

Pant to me, is best suited right now for test cricket. I dont think he should be an automatic choice in LOI's
Pant, I predict will go down the Sehwag route as a far more game-changing test cricketer than in T20s. Sanju gets T20 and plays the right way. The little chances he had for India, he batted selflessly with the attitude that fits modern T20 cricket. That will ofc be less consistent (w.r.t averages) but what will win us big tournaments. This conservatism is what holds us back in big events.

What do India gain from not giving Umran and Arshdeep an extended run in these meaningless bilateral series? If you gain a 150 kph weapon for the T20 WC in Australia in the bargain of losing a pointless series, so be it. No disrespect to Bhuvi, but we know what he brings to the table. If you want to try out options before the WC, you go for the untested ones first, and if all fails, you can always go back to Bhuvi. I fail to see the logic behind this. We play an archaic brand of T20 cricket with no real eye for matchups.
Hmm reading this post makes me or so wanna rejoin the cricket forums! aditya123, glad to see you’re around.

Just hopped back to see if some of the old names are still around!

To be honest, over the years, I got less parochially invested in the fortunes of Indian cricket and became more of an overall cricket tragic. Also, the BCCI and Indian cricket team in general being coopted for jingoism made me lose some interest too. But, with the England test and the 2 WCs to follow, I might actually be around here. Let's see :)

Thanks! Hope the cricket forum is as healthy as before. As I said, the hiatus was partly because I became very disillusioned with Indian cricket and how obscenely powerful it became at the expense of world cricket sometimes. Also, unlike in the mid-2000s and up until 2011, the Indian cricket team is now coopted for jingoistic agenda. So, what keeps me interested now is not the fortunes of this side in particular but exciting new talent and stories (Siraj & Gill in Australia for e.g). I don`t care the same way about the result of a bilateral ODI/T20 series the way I would a decade ago.
