Great update there Shan, good explanation of everything that is going on. I'm gonna have to go for Australia, hoping the Aussies can restore order after there test series loss. Love the presentation, kiu!
Please don't change the thread title.. It should be consistent. Series name should be appended to the story title and not that it should be changed. :onpc
Cricket Australia have announced the fixtures for the Commonwealth Bank Quadrangular Series 2009. This is the second quadrangular one-day series, first being hosted by Ireland in 2007. India, South Africa and England along with the home side Australia will be participating in this series. Each team will play a total of 6 games and will face each team twice. A total of 12 league matches will be played in 6 different stadiums in Australia and then the top two teams will face each other in the best of three finals. The fixtures are as follows:
Australia v India @ Melbourne
South Africa v England @ Sydney
Australia v South Africa @ Hobart
India v England @ Perth
India v South Africa @ Brisbane
Australia v England @ Adelaide
Mate, give Brad Hodge a go in this one day series. Would like to see him around the 6th-7th position on the team as he is a good batter down the order and with a little bit of spin he can produce he may be handy.
After a long meeting the Australian selectors have announced the team for the upcoming series. As expected Matthew Hayden has been dropped from the side due to his recent poor form. The selectors have decided to hand Callum Ferguson, David Warner and Peter Siddle their one-day debut by picking them in the squad. The main worry for the Aussies will be the absence of Brett Lee and Andrew Symonds due to foot and shoulder injury respectively. Shaun Tait has been recalled in to the side after a long break while Luke Ronchi is also selected as the second keeper for the side.
After a historic win in Australia the selectors haven't made huge changes to the test squad. As expected Johan Botha, Albie Morkel and Herschelle Gibbs have been sent to Australia in place of Ashwell Prince, Paul Harris and Monde Zondeki. Wayne Parnell the under-19 skipper has also earned a maiden one-day international call for South Africa but its unlikely he would be making his debut against the best of Australia, India and England. Herschelle Gibbs and Albie Morkel would add a lot to their batting fire-power.
After winning 5-0 against England at home and then 4-1 in Sri Lanka the might Indians are on a high. The selectors have decided to stick with their current team which has been successful. Just a surprise inclusion is of Mumbai pacer Dhaval Kulkarni. Dhaval Kulkarni was the leading wicket taker in Domestic Cricket and that has earned him a maiden one-day call for India ahead of experience Laxmipati Balaji. Dinesh Karthick has also given a chance ahead of in-form Parthiv Patel for the second keeper role in the team. Harbhajan Singh has also made his comeback after a injury absence.
England selectors have surprised the whole world of cricket by re-handing Kevin Pietersen the captaincy for the one-day internationals only. England earlier this year were thrashed 5-0 in India and will be hoping to avenge it. Surprisingly no big changes have been made in the squad. Monty Panesar has been given a place in the side and Graham Napier has been given maiden call. Graham Napier was just outstanding for Essesx during the county season and that has earned him a place in the squad in place of allrounder Luke Wright.
Channel Nine have just launched a new fantasy cricket game which will start from the Commonwealth Bank Quadrangular Series 2009 between Australia, India, South Africa and England. Top 3 winners will earn a lot of vcash and reps so which means fans have nothing to lose but everything to win.
