Spectating AI matches and some worrying AI findings

Zimbabwe 187 and 162
Australia 382

This is a realistic outcome for me. There were a couple of 20s from the one bar skilled tail, perhaps the sliders are a little poorly calibrated, nothing major though, for me this is a good outcome. There were four runouts in the match which I can live with.

I will try a T20 now with the same teams

Yeah nice to know, cheers mate!

You've played/watched cricket before, yeah? That um... generally speaking... happens quite a bit.

Yeah, as a South African, this is one of the more realistic trends in the game... we generally suck at wrapping up the tail :lol

Any updates mate?

can you record it and up if possible as a pc gamer wouldnt mind watching the stuffs you are running till its getting on to steam, if you can/want to :)

I can confirm that the tail enders play too well.

I recorded a test match and both tail enders scored 50s and a 100 runs partnership, where as I had gotten the middle order out cheaply. You can see the video here

So is there an actual AI slider bug or not? Seems like everything was fine from Langeldt's matches but not for others?

With default teams, my bottom 3 average over 20. The same as the top 8, which is a bit alarming.

I have lowered tailenders skill to only one dot, with slightly more realistic results. I am still testing however.

So, it seems like the sliders work, but are poorly calibrated. You don't want fidel edwards with 25 percent sliders, you want him with 2 percent

This is usually the case

People need to play around until settings for skills to produce realistic AI results are found

Once more research is done and results confirmed by many users team creators can adjust stats of their teams accordingly

Thanks for all the effort you're putting in @Langeveldt, it is stuff like this that really defines the game, especially a game that relies heavily on the community

When you say default teams, are you using the on disc teams? or downloaded teams? I must admit, I downloaded the SA domestic sides last night and started a RAM Slam, I'm guessing as these had no on disc links, the skills of all players was defined by the creator. and so far so good for me, Guys like Gayle, De Kock, Miller are on top of the Batting stats and bowling stats also looking very good.

I really did try stick to realistic skills and stuff when creating the SA domestic teams. In fact all my teams. I have uploaded updated versions now but under LlewelynF7 if you want to check them out.

Those are the ones I've got yes :cheers btw, you have Morne Van Wyk as a lefty which isn't errrr right... Still gave my opening bowlers a thrashing like only MvW can though :thumbs

This is an inevitable problem when the attributes are all community assigned, except for career mode. I see two parts to the issue:

1) The community creates these teams without a lot of continuity, so whilst people may have similar opinions of the skills of players, they may have a different rational when assigning skills. e.g. for tailenders, Peter Siddle is a tailender but a decent one. Does that mean he should be say 40/100 for skill? 20/100?

2) Given there are so many community teams out there, it was likely not possible for Big Ant to test the gameplay with these attributes. If they made all the attributes themselves they could make sure they are in tune with the AI, but here it's not the case.

I think that things can be improved (not that they are bad) but it will take some time. The PC community spent years of work on previous cricket games and that required some hardcore hacking just to edit attributes. Now we can do it with ease :) People for now though are just enjoying playing the game.

Yeah, the attributes thing really isn't a DaVinci Code to break, it'll be a long term tweaking thing as we get to grips with how they're implemented in game. The academy created teams just need to be rebalanced by the creators, not a big job...

Yeah, although BA is releasing a patch soon so I'd wait for that.

e.g. right now I'd be lowering all of the fielding attributes to help reduce their super powers, but the BA patch may fix that.

What would be great though would be a mass edit button, where you could adjust all players in a team by a number or fraction of a skill.

Alternatively, there could be gameplay sliders.
