Sri Lanka in England 2011

cant wait for the series to start. will be tough but i genuinely think england are the stronger side here and should SL away before the tougher test (on paper anyway) of India.

I actually went to watch Sri Lanka vs Middlesex today in the tour opener. Sri Lanka didn't really play that well with Strauss(151) and housego(104) both scoring centurys with a 214 partnership and if Strauss had continued he probably could have got a double hundredl. Sri Lanka will need to improve before the first test if they're playing like this against Middlesex. Another good point is that Strauss has started the season in great form and hopefully he can continue in good form in the test match's.

do middlesex refuse to play on anything but feather beds? Sri lanka put on 100/0 at over 6 runs an over. would be good for limited overs cricket, let alone first class.

Lets match the attack of Anderson-Broad-Finn/Tremlett-Swann vs Pradeep-Fernando-Welegedra-Herath/Mendis . And FTR , Mendis is back into the national setup after a battering experience with Somerset , got smashed by every single county batsman at more than 4 rpo in the county championship .
This really should be a one side affair and as I earlier said , courtesy of rain - it will be 2-0 to England , else a whitewash is inevitable for Lanka .

on the face of it, it does look like England should win this series but this is exactly, exactly, the type of attitude that saw sri lanka end up drawing 1-1 in 2006.

let's hope the players aren't thinking like this.

^^ couldnt agree more. england are the better test side but they can not be complacent. sri lanka always come to win and are a tough side to get down. plus the batting has the potential to be a match winner for SL.

Big difference between 2006 to now:

- England had most of its Ashes winning squad injured that series.

- SRI still had Murali & Vaas

This time ENG will be @ full-strength & SRI bowling dont have those two legends & Malinga. So IMO it think SRI will do well to avoid a whitewash.
