The win was in sight for either side. A couple of good partnerships for Pakistan would see them get the remaining 124 runs. For England, they had to find the balance between keeping it tight and trying to pick up the final 4 wickets.
Given the state of the match, the first session definitely belonged to England, where Flintoff picked up 2 out of the 3 wickets to fall, completing his 5 wicket haul.
Shahid Afridi remained positive however and moved into the 90s just before lunch.
After lunch and into the second session, it seemed a foregone conclusion, but Danish Kaneria partnered Afridi brilliantly and before long the lead was below 50
48 required to win for Pakistan, Ashley Giles around the wicket to Shahid Afridi... Afridi gives himself room and tries to cut through point..... NO! He’s chopped on to middle stump and that brings to an end an excellent innings and an excellent test match.
