Chapter 4(B)

Finally! :banana2

Phew!<--This was my reaction after I reached Nagpur air-port safely and just in time. The crew solved all the problems quickly after that and finally, yeah finally we were away. It was the most annoying journey but still was a special one. :) I was greeted by one of the officials of VCA and reached the Vidharbha Cricket Association Stadium,Nagpur.

The first game was between India Blue and India Red. That was good for me. The game was about to begin in an hour and so I went to India Green dressing room to get hold of the environment. But to my surprise no one was present in there. Then I was informed as the Green team have their match tomorrow so players are chilling out in the hotel. I was then taken over to the hotel and went staright into my room. But it wasn't really 'my' room. :p It was shared by someone else as well. As I went in,I saw Tanmay Srivastava there. I knew I had a partner there. He greeted me well and told that they were informed about my inclusion. So, it felt quite good to me.

Soon,I met all my 'team-mates'. :D Captain Raina,Irfan,Balaji,Parthiv, and all others. I was surprised actually that everyone had greeted me so well. I wasn't expecting that as I was a 'surprise' inclusion in the squad. No pulling-of-leg nothing. Amazing, isn't it? No one of us bothered about the match between senior pros. We had a day-out and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. It was as if I knew all of them from a long time. It was fun. Still somewhere in my heart, there was a bit of worry about will I get a chance in Final XI or no!?!

Finaly you reached Nagpur. Nice to see that you were greeted well. You really need to do something special for your team in my point of view India Green side isn't looking strong for me India Blue looks to me the strongest. It is quite shocking that no one of India Green team was present at the stadium for the first match maybe they could have done some analyses on them although watching on tv is 'nough. Anyway really nice writing Gary hope you will be selected in the playing 11.

Well, Great update dude:)
Waiting for your inclusion in Final XI and I reckon you won't come in.
And If I were you, I'd have kept a Prediction Contest about inclusion of "Mr.Gaurav Aggarwal" in the side:)

Chapter 4(C)

Preview of NKP Salve Challenger Trophy Teams

Cricinfo.com+logo.JPG

India Blue

They have the strongest batting unit in the competition: captain MS Dhoni has domestic giant Wasim Jaffer, aggressive wicketkeeper-batsman Naman Ojha, an in-form Abhinav Mukund and a pair of allrounders, Yusuf Pathan and Abhishek Nayar, to back him up. The fast bowling will be spearheaded by Sreesanth, with two players who made an impact in the IPL, Rajasthan's Sidharth Trivedi and Bengal's Ashoke Dinda, to provide support.

Players to watch -After muscling his way into the one-day side on the back of some match-turning efforts in the IPL, Yusuf Pathan's form has nosedived over the past few months. He needs to perform here or risks losing his place to India Blue team-mate Abhishek Nayar, who hasn't had enough of a chance yet to show off his skills on the international stage. Also, Sreesanth, fresh from being fined 60% of his Irani Cup fee for a verbal tiff with Dhawal Kulkarni, will look to hit the headlines for the right reasons.

India Red

Captained by perennial hopeful S Badrinath, this is a side with plenty of bowling firepower. Ishant Sharma will attempt to recapture the pace and form of 2008, and he will have Munaf Patel and the promising Uttar Pradesh seamer Sudeep Tyagi sharing fast-bowling duties. The withdrawal of Yuvraj Singh, though, makes the batting suspect, putting a lot of responsibility on the Tamil Nadu duo of Badrinath and M Vijay.

Players to watch -The uncertainty over the availability of Zaheer Khan for the Australia series, combined with the inept displays from the fast bowlers in both the Compaq Cup and the Champions Trophy, means virtually none of the quicks can be sure of their place in the national side. After his five-wicket haul in the Irani Cup, Munaf Patel's comeback bid will gather steam if he is among the wickets in Nagpur. Ravindra Jadeja will also enter the fight for the allrounder's spot if he builds on the assured showing in the Irani Cup.

India Green

This young side will be led by Suresh Raina, and has two fast bowlers, L Balaji and Dhawal Kulkarni, who dropped off the selectors' radar after the tour of New Zealand early this year. The batting is their stronger suit, though, with the line-up including Raina, the prolific Ajinkya Rahane, Parthiv Patel, and two members of the 2008 Under-19 World Cup-winning squad, Saurabh Tiwary (seven half-centuries in 12 List A innings) and Tanmay Srivastava. There is a surprise inclusion of a rookie named Gaurav Aggarwal who has no past records in higher level of cricket and some sources say that he has been included on the recommendation of Mr. Lalchand Rajput.

Players to watch -A glut of runs in 2008-09 has pushed Ajinkya Rahane up the ladder towards a national spot. This is his third consecutive Challenger Trophy, and a strong showing here could help him make the final leap to the big stage. While it would be interesting to see if the 'surprise' inclusion of Gaurav works for India Green or not?

Nice update buddy, hope you get into the playing XI and then, think of your game:D:D
And I think you'll be surely be in the playing XI as you are the wonder kid..
Surprised?? or Confused??

The people who have strong recommendation are considered as those;)

suddenly a 'ting-ting' sound comes up in Gaurav's mobile. The sleepy Gaurav, wakes up & sees his mobile blinking bright. He takes that in his hands & sees a message from unknown number. He clicks, READ. The message opens up and states - " All the best Gaurav, don't worry for anything you will be selected for sure. - Suren & Katty"

Gaurav goes  and :brickwall in the midnight. :p

Harshad Khadiwale in action

India Blue skipper MS Dhoni won the toss and put India Red into bat. This was a surprise decision as chasing under lights was always considered a tough job at VCA stadium,Nagpur. The pitch conditions were evenly matched and everyone expected a good contest between the bat and bowl.

India Red batsmen walked at the center having been asked to bat first. Openers Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay blasted their way as the duo added 71-runs for the 1st wicket. Harshad Khadiwale came in after the dismissal of Murali Vijay who fell to Sreesanth at 36. Shikhar Dhawan couldn't resist the tidy overs and eventually fell to Harbhajan Singh playing a rash shot on 34. Skipper of India Red Subramaniam Badrinath joined with Khadiwale and the two of them added 165 runs at a better than run-a-ball for the 3rd wicket to take India Red to a score of 254 in the 46th over. Khadiwale missed his well-deserved century by a whisker and was caught by Harbhajan off the bowling of Yusuf Pathan at 99. Finally,Badrinath and wicket-keeper batsman Saha took India Red to a commanding total of 291 in their respective 50 overs. Badrinath was not-out in the end at 92 which included 8 fours and 3 huge sixes.

Chasing 292 India Blue openers started slowly. Abhinav Mukund was looking out-of-sorts as he was dismissed by Tyagi for 8. Kedar Jadhav walked in and batted solidly with Wasim Jaffer. Both of them looked good until Ashwin removed Jaffer one short of his half-century in the 18th over. That brought India Red Captain MS Dhoni to the crease. He along with Kedar Jadhav did not let the momentum shift as both batsmen played their shots. The required run-rate of 7 runs per over crept into the mind of Jadhav as he tried to smash Jadeja out of the park but ended up in being caught by Tyagi in the deep at 57. A promising partnership of 102 came to an end. People thought that this was the write time for Yusuf Pathan to come in with 13 overs left and required run-rate of 7 needed. Dhoni and Pathan played a few quite overs as over 8-an over was needed for the last 10. But again Jadeja out-smarted the batsman as Dhoni walked back in the hut for 62 runs. Pathan didn't wait too long as he was bowled by Ishant Sharma in the next over. Nayar was joined by wicket-keeper batsman Naman Ojha in the middle. The last thing India Blue needed was a run-out as Ojha didn't bother hearing Nayar's call and was run-out by Dhawan. Nayar and Harbhajan couldn't do much as India Blue fell short by 43 runs.

India Red Skipper Subramaniam Badrinath was declared the Man of the Match for his superb knock of 92 off 85 deliveries.
