Symonds racially abused vs India 5th ODI

Yeah. The indian crowds were being racist. I hate it when things like racism disrupt Cricket  They called him a "monkey" mostly due to his skin colour and facial features.

By the way....Hooper, is Andrew Syomods Aboriginese?

No he isn't. He has West Indian heritage, a bit of Asian in him as well he thinks from one of his real parents. No abo in him.

Ok Thanks man ;)

I like India cricket but what they did to Symonds was not at all acceptable. No-one deserves to be abused!

Hoops,
My own grandpa calls me a monkey when I act stupid or am being an arse.
He's not the nicest guy either so its not like "Aww you silly monkey :)" but more like "  you stupid monkey you crashed my computer!!!11:mad:mad"

He can't really be racist to himself, seriously. I agree, it was an act to make fun of/pull symonds down, but it wasn't because he was black.

Yeah "all thats been mentioned", you go ask the Indian fans who are doing why they are calling him a monkey. You can't just assume that they don't know that monkey is associated with Africans becayse "they weren't involved in the the African slave labour or that Liverpool game", because Animator wasn't involved with it and he surely knows it! Yes, the colour thing does work! Thats half of what being called a monkey is based on, then your facial features from having African in you, because a lot of the racists a while back believed that people with African in them weren't as evolved and were just dumb monkeys! I do think they know he is from African descent, were else would he get his colour from? Asia? Yeah, he does have Asian in him, but you don't really notice it to much.

Oh and;

Totally different facial features, notably more darker (I know some Indians are dark as well) they just dont look the same do they?

Anyways, I just wished you guys would stop trying to defend your fans actions...Its clearly racist to some people, you obviously don't understand. All I want done is for an apology to Cricket Australia and Symonds, them fans to be banned and for it never to happen again.

The BBCI has claimed in never happened

Liars, if it never happened then why would Ponting and Symonds make references to it? Symonds even mentioned it in his speech.

An argument based on phenotypical data is hardly justifiable at all. If you are using skin tone as your basis for when the word 'monkey' is deemed a racist taunt, then you have no real argument.

This dude is Indian; he clearly has darker skin tone than Symonds, so is calling him a monkey racist? When some members here on PC called Sreesanth a monkey, was that racist? If so why isn't the PC police (PC in more ways than one) jumping on that bandwagon?

Fact: People in Africa have more genotypical variation than in every other continent. So saying that just because you are of African descent means calling you a monkey is racist is flat out wrong. It has no real basis, and if we were to really be pedantic we are all African in descent.

Arguments like "he has African in him" or "he has Asian in him" is at the conception a racialist/borderline racist defining tool. In a way making such a classification is very racist.

who cares if it was racist or not? All Symonds needs is an apology from the culprits and then they can go on their merry ways of life. No crowd is perfect. You'll get the odd asshole here or there. Just avoid/not listen to them during the game and after the game complain to the ICC/match referee. Then watch their ass get pawned.

LOL. Priceless post. It's funny that you come here and are all arrogant in our face even when your post has nothing to do with the debate at hand.
The topic is about Indian's "racially abusing" an Australian. What did I write in my post?

I don't really see why an Australian would take offence to what an Indian would say in the first place. Our country totally outclasses their country in every aspect possible.

I'd honestly laugh if someone from another country attempted to be racist against me because I'm Australian. I'm proud and there is no other nationality I'd rather be.
I write my opinion on how I would've reacted had I been in Symonds position. It's my opinion but of course I doubt you would've targetted me if I were an Indian justifying the crowd's actions, would you?

And thanks for the negative rep, sweetheart. ;)

I wasn't basing it all on skin colour, I said "facial features".

Yet again.

What is it, lash out against the Indians month here on PC?

You sir, have never even been to India (I bet).

You just crossed the line, mate.

How old are you? 11? 12?

...Anyways, it's my opinion. Don't like it, ignore it.

It's my way of saying Symonds shouldn't sweat over what a few subcontinent fans say. At the end of the day, his the man on the field and their the ones behind a fence.

Well, comparing a picture of Tendulkar and Symonds wasn't exactly fair. North Indians are generally fairer and more white looking than most south Indians. You can see any number of people with more "African" than Symonds if you visit south India. So i really don't think the "facial features" thing is the reason. Besides, Symonds was hardly endearing himself to the Indian fans from the comments he started making to the media as soon as he landed here.

What about the pics of Sreesanth with his face morphed for a chimp doing the rounds in the net? I don't see anybody making a hue and cry about that thing. Indian fans are not calling him a monkey because of his looks.

Hehe, that wasn't Tendulkar and Symonds - it was Gayle;)

Well of course not, the Indians made the picture (or at least posted it anyways, and there have been no complaints anyways from Indians). And he is an idiot so Iam not complaining about it.

Yeah ok mate, he never sooked in the first place, he hasn't complained to much and is in the form of his life!
