Tamil Music/Movie Thread

Hi Friends watched Payanam , good film.

Where? Theatre? I am waiting for the original DVD to come out so that I can buy it and watch it (I dont really mean it, but according to PC rules, I have to:p).

Watched Maapillai , Not a good film , waste of money . :facepalm

The worst ever 15 mins of my life were when I watched the first 15 mins of "Mappillai". Thank god I was wise enough to stop the torture.:D

Coming back to Tamil music, the songs of "180" and "Avan Ivan" are damn good, especially "180" starring Siddarth. The music is by popular Malayalam musician Sharreth and he has done a fab job. Yuvan also has rocked in Avan Ivan with his more rustic feel songs.

I am a huge Siddharth fanboy. Doesn't do enough Tamil or Hindi films. I have watched a few of his Telegu flicks but barely understand the language so I don't follow him regularly. I'll check 180 out for sure.

Watch his Telugu films with subtitles (especially, "Bommarillu" and "Nuvvustanante Nennodantana"). He is excellent in these two films. If you have watched Santosh Subramanyam, watch Bommarillu to see how well that role should have been done.

I've seen Bomarillu multiple times. I think I have seen that second one too. Bomarillu is awesome.

Watched 7aum arivu and Velayutham.
7aum is sci-fi, nice to watch. Shruthi Haasan has done extraordinary in here debut, she has an equal role to the here.
Velayutham is above-average. General-mass film, first story of M.Raja who have been doing remakes.

Both films were diwali treat for the fans.

I will watch just about anything intelligently sci-fi, but I've seen very little made in languages other than English (just Lem's 'Pirx the Pilot' and 'Solaris', afai can recall). Am I missing out? Is it worth me looking for a subtitled copy of this 7aum (if and when it's out on disc)?

It's a regional film, it's not worth to watch as you can't understand, Tamil movies are no match to hollywood. This film is based on history of Bodhidharma.
Movies is scientific but no match to the movies you see.

I think Tamil movies are definitely an acquired taste ;).

I am looking forward to catching it in theaters sometime soon. Listen to songs from Aravan right now and I am really enjoying it.

Watched 7am Arivu, Velayutham. 7A was a very good film which could have been a classic if a lil' more effort was put into the screenplay and editing. Velayutham was highly formulaic, majorly repetitive stuff from Vijay and I didn't like the movie at all. It was a rehash of not only Vijay's films, but also from Vijaykanth films too.

I love 3 songs from Mayakkam Enna (Kaadhal En Kaadhal, Voda Voda and Naa Sonnadhum Mazhai). Osthi is a really good masala album. Love "Kalasala", "Osthi Mamey", "Neduvaali" and "Unnale Unnale".

Waiting for the Nanban's music release
