Waiting for the Nanban's music release

Same here.Harris consistently gives quality numbers (though most of them are rip-offs). Seems like the song 'AskaLaska' sung by Chinmayi sounds very good. Looking forward to it.

Oh come on! The promos of Nanban are super!!!! Maybe you must be a Harris hater! Failure is not a word you and I should use to express liking for an artist's work. A failure is when the artist's work doesnt get its due recognition. You like it, or you dont like it. Stay with that!

I will watch just about anything intelligently sci-fi, but I've seen very little made in languages other than English (just Lem's 'Pirx the Pilot' and 'Solaris', afai can recall). Am I missing out? Is it worth me looking for a subtitled copy of this 7aum (if and when it's out on disc)?

7am Arivu is not a full time sci-fi film. There is some science fiction thrown in, but basically its part historical, part popcorn entertainment. Tough to classify it into one particular genre. If you are grown up on Hollywood sci-fi and dont really get excited by Indian popcorn masala stuff, I will suggest you to give this film a skip.

Actually I love his songs, especially the albums like Varanam Aayiram. Nanban is not upto the level of his albums.

"Aska Laska" and "Irukaana Illaiyaana" from Nanban are super catchy and good! Can't stop playing them. Playing them non-stop since 2 days. Harris Jayaraj rocks!

Anyone heard any songs from Saguni, Vettai?
I'm really waiting for '3' which is releasing on January 14(Pongal) with Saguni, Vettai and Nanban.

Vettai songs are very ordinary. Yuvan has lost his touch in recent times in Tamil. The songs from '3' are fresh to hear and stick on repeated hearings.

Nanban is very good.. Its a faithful remake of 3 Idiots and is remade scene by scene with almost literal translation of the dialogues. But the effort to adapt it to the Tamil audience is done pretty well by Shankar and Madhan Karky (dialogue writer). Vijay is excellent in Aamir's role, Jiiva and Srikanth are very good, Sathyan as Silencer is very good, Sathyaraj is OK, Ileana hams Kareena's role, the background score by Harris are decent but not great.

Watch it as a new Tamil film and dont compare it with 3 Idiots and you will enjoy it. If you are forced to compare, give it a 2nd watch. Nanban is a very good film for a Tamil movie.

60% of 3 Idiots? It was a scene by scene complete remake of 3 Idiots. If you are referring to the impact, those who have watched and liked 3 Idiots will always be biased to the original.
