Tamil Music/Movie Thread

"OK OK", Santhanam is the real hero in it.
Dance has spoiled the music. Good combination of Udhay and Santhanam.

----------

'3' was superb. First half was so entertaining and second half was bit scattered but good screenplay. Really a nice movie.

----------

Aambalaikkum Pombalaikkum, loved the song, really great.
Best song of the year!

- True lyrics
- Excellent music which makes me dance everytime I hear this
- Better than Venam Machan

Ya,OK OK was very entertaining and awesome. But when talking about his dance, its not upto the level of songs but he himself accepted that and will improve in the future.
Hmm,3 was not upto the level of their ads.1ST half quite nice. But 2nd one was similar to his last movie(not exactly).Overall it was a flop.
BTW,"Aambalaikkum Pombalaikkum" and "Venam Machan" cant be compared.Soup boys would like "Venam Machan"
But you are too good boy,so you may not like it.:p

It did well in box office.

Hmm,I could have used any other word.
But I am sure it would have not reached on their expectations still.
They some how managed to run the movie for some days coz of heavy Ads.

'3' is a above average grosser in Tamil (hit in cities). In Telugu, it flopped but that was more because the distributor got swayed away by the Kolaveri success and he paid 10cr for the film when Dhanush's Andhra market is just 10 lakhs or so....

I didn't compare the songs by lyrics. "Aambalaikkum...." is the best kuthu song of the year but it didn't reach because of the film's failure.

Heard 'Po po po' song from Manam kothi paravi. Good singing and composition and I'm sure you'll like it.

Also watched "Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Epdi". BRILLIANT movie! Great screenplay where a short film has been made for the silver screen format. Those who love the staple old fashioned cinematic screenplay wont enjoy this, but this was a fresh film and innovative.

Yeah, new type of movie for us. I always like different movies. In KSY, the narration of hero is great, but the director has made him narrate till the climax(same dialogues).

Did anyone watch Thadaiyara Thaakka? heard that it's thrilling... Didn't watch it as the film got 'A' certification for violence and stuffs.

Watched it finally. :D Hmm, 200% for adults. If you're willing to watch it, then see it in theaters.

Saguni (Sakuni in Telugu) was released today. Didn't see it, heard that it's a mass masala entertainer. Post your view about the film if you've watched. Gonna watch it this Sunday.

Saguni is said to be a typical masala film. I would rather wait and watch it on DVD. I am waiting for the release of Billa-2. It has excellent cinematography, and Ajith looks good in it. Thats a film that can be given a shot at the theatres.

Waiting for the DVD of Thadaiyara Thakka. Heard lot of good reviews for it.

Billa 2, I am really really waiting for it to release. Mankatha was mind-blowing!! Hope Ajith do the same thing in Billa.

Just watched "Thadaiyara Thakka". Good film! I enjoyed it. Pretty Gautham Menon-ish action thriller touch to the film. The director Magizh Thirumeni was Gautham's assistant during Kaakha Kaakha and Vettaiyadu Vilayadu, it seems. So that feel was evident. But still, a gripping and a very well made film. The background score by Thaman added a lot to the film. Arun Vijay was very good for his standards, but I feel he was heavily lacking in romance and light hearted scenes. He is good for the serious stuff.

Best acting of top actors in recent films

Note: This is purely based on the recent films. This list will exclude Rajni, Kamal and Powerstar Dr. Srinivasan(:p). I am starting this, so we can share the best videos of the stars.

Dhanush - Kolaveri guy! and the national award winning actor... Had been great in recent years. He has improved a lot in his acting, probably one of the best Tamil heros now. Last year was great for him - he won a national award, his song "Why this Kolaveri di" was a huge success. Acting, dance, lyrics, voice, etc; he has a great talent.

Best acting:

1. Aadukalam - for which he won the national award as the best actor, Otha Sollala song in which he danced great. Wow!
2. Mayakkam Enna - Dhanush again proved his acting in Mayakkam Enna, he showed his talent especially in scenes in which he act like a dog, in crying scenes, as a psycho, etc.

I would have posted the scene in Mayakkam Enna in which he acts like a dog. But I didn't get a video with good quality.

Vikram, Chiyaan! He's surely the successor of Sivaji Ganesan and Kamal in the acting. He's suited for serious films like Anniyan, Raavanan, Deiva Thirumagal.
Anniyan and Deiva thirumagal are more than enough to prove his acting. No one would have been a better find for those roles.

Deiva thirumagal climax, he showed his potential.

Can't wait for August, all the big movies are supposed to hit the screens, Vishwaroopam, Thuppaki, Maatran and Mugamoodi, going to be a rocking month for sure.

Billa 2 releases Friday the 13th, looking forward to that as well. Thala pola varuma. ;)

I know you said recent movies, but his performance in Kaadhal Kondein is right up there, he did pretty good under Balu Mahendra in Adhu Oru Kana Kaalam as well and Pudhupettai under his brother Selvaraghavan, can't ever forget that. Good actor, this lad.

Hope Dhanush can impress the Bollywood audience too in a similar way to what he has done with Tamil audience. He has the acting talent to stay up there for long even in Bollywood.

Watched Naan ee(Eega). A sappa story told superb :thumbs

Awesome direction by Rajamouli, wow! Sudeep's acting is another plus.
Second half is little bit mokkai and there are few flaws. But it is entertaining and worth watching. The film gives you satisfaction as a whole.

Watch it for the amazing graphics which took south cinemas to next level.
Rajamouli just rocked, he took the film in just 30 crores!
