All right :thumbs

----------

Love Almost all songs from David after repeated listens of it..... :thumbs to Bejoy Nambiar....Have High Expectations for the movie.... One Of the movies am waiting for....

Watched "Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya" and "Samar" this recent weekend. Well, "Samar" was pathetic and silly to say the least. The acting and the dialogues were so silly that the storyline hardly saved it. Vishal is a pathetic actor, and he proves that yet again. His dialogue delivery gets on my nerves these days. Trisha was eye candy and had a better role than Sunaina, whose dubbing (Chinmayi) didn't suit her one bit. In all, Samar is a dampener!!!

"Kanna Laddu Thinna Aasaiya" is fun if you don't take it seriously. Its an expanded version of Lollu Sabha, with full of kalaais and one liners. Powerstar Srinivasan scores more than Santhanam, as the best comedian. He is a spoof of mass heroes, and he does it rather too well. Santhanam is very good (I have started liking him more these days). Mathadhu ellam solra alavukku illa.. On the whole, a good timepass (but again, DON'T TAKE THE MOVIE SERIOUSLY!).

Thappi thavari Alex Pandian pakkam poidatheenga. :D

Start pannen... 10 mins lah off panni delete panniten. Santhanam is back to his irritating 'Gounder cloning' ways. The initial comedies are all almost lift-offs from Gounder's classic comedies (the Gounder-Ramarajan sappadu comedy where Ramarajan eats lots of food at Gounder's house). Karthi kaatu mokka.... The song where Santhanam imagines Karthi dancing with those girls - Karthi is just a gross misfit. What a waste of a CAREER!!

And now the Government bans Viswaroopam even after censor board's certification. :facepalm

Postponed for 15 days in Madras alone i heard.I heard its running up even in Pondicherry as scheduled. But all theaters in Madras have become sold out. Also i heard its releasing in THE USA etc..as planned.

The overseas premier of Vishwaroopam is on schedule... Which means the movie will release everywhere (except in TN) on Jan 25th.... Could be a massive thing if the movie turns out to be average or bad. Kamal will suffer massive losses. If the movie turns out to be good, still piracy might seep in quickly by the time they release it in TN

Its a murky situation for Kamal. Pity him! People want to use him for political portfolio.

Seems the Judge( for the case) will see the movie today and give the verdict whether It can be released here on 28th jan (or any other date) or not :(

Just watched the movie! Frank opinion - didn't like it at all. Drag to the core! Only positive was Kamal's Kathak dancer act.

Is it attacking Islam or something?

Its not attacking Islam and all. Its attacking the people who use Islam to get into terrorism and affect other people's lives. Its not different from many other Jihad terrorism films that have come out in Bollywood, Hollywood and Tamil cinema. Its just that the Muslim minority in Tamil Nadu has suddenly decided to get a political profile and are trying to have fun under the sun.

Don't know whether Vishwaroopam would have this much coverage without the protests. It's a positive thing if the movie releases soon and more people will try to watch it.

People are raving about the movie mostly because of the sympathy wave sweeping through Tamils for Kamal and his struggles to release the film; and of course for Kamal's image. Its a major drag whenever the Afghanistan portions come up. Kamal of course is very good in his role, both as the Kathak dancer and the Taliban guy, but the movie fails in the execution part. And a major irritation is the dialogs and the way the characters speak Tamil in the film. It felt like a dubbing film whenever the characters spoke Tamil. Modern day Tamil Brahmin people don't speak such chaste Brahmin Tamil (I am a modern day Tamil Iyer Brahmin too). And for god's sake, this film was set entirely in New York (with some Afghanistan flashback). Even the Afghan guys (who speak Arabic) are made to speak Tamil here, who adds to the strain to your ears. Nammala ivlo kashta paduthi edukku ipdi oru terrorism based subject Tamil cinema lah edukanum.

People who made fun of Mani Ratnam's "Roja" where the lead terrorist (Pankaj Kapur) justifies his Tamil by saying he studied in Madurai for some years; Rahul Bose also does the same justification in this film when Kamal asks him how he knows Tamil.

P.s: I am going to watch this movie in Hindi to see how it feels (since this film will suit Hindi sensibilities better). Thuppakki was a much better film that suited Tamil cinema and yet it dealt with Jihad terrorism.

Loved Mani Ratnam's "Kadal". I thought it was a very well made commercial entertainer with Mani Ratnam's touches thrown in here and there. Its definitely not a flawless film, but its deftinitely made very entertaining by the performances of Gautham Karthik (WHAT A DEBUT!!!), Arvindsamy and Arjun's power packed performances. And Rahman's music and Rajeev Menon's DOP are real and super highlights.

Worth a watch! 4/5
