Tamil Music/Movie Thread

A comparison table of films of both actors. Both actors have had continuous failures in the last 10 films.

Their movies always don't make me to expect any storyline, it's always been 'local mass hero' style. So wouldn't really call flop but they did what they can. :)

Their hit movies has always come from the remake of a movie that was hit in another language. This is really disappointing because, I always expect originality in scripts and storyline. May be its only me, to feel & worry that our tamil movie standards have gone way too down.

But yeah, these have made me to enjoy many unpopular & small budget movies - sattai, naduvula nalu pakatha kaanum, varutha padatha valibar sangam, kumki etc. These kind of movies carry no big actors but it made me feel so good to enjoy them.

Ajith's 'Varalaru' was a blockbuster, and this one calls it a 'flop'. Similarly, Kaavalan was a hit for Vijay, and this one calls it a 'flop'. It was Kaavalan from where Vijay made his comeback after a major spate of failures like Azhagiya Tamizh Magan, Villu, Sura, etc.

Yeah, a few mistakes there and I agree with Suren.

Nowadays small budget movies with new faces or less known faces are being liked by people. Only a very few people like me still watch movies for the sake of hero. I heard Madha Yaanai Kootam is doing well.

Watched Kalyana samayal saadham movie finally. Actually, message conveyed in the end was nice in getting a life partner but the subject chosen to convey the message could have been different to make it an appropriate family package movie. Was a chilling movie nevertheless. :)

What about the third installment is the Muni series ? I know its called Ganga but when is it releasing ?
That movie was delayed Since the Director/Hero Raghava Lawrence was injured.

A brilliant screen play, light story with good message, nice real feeling, one of the best ever films i have come across in my life.

Absolutely. The idea to tackle the issue of impotence/erectile dysfunction using a family based movie like this was a wacky concept. Family audiences were squirming in their seats watching this, and people who like adult comedy/jokes couldn't fully enjoy it because it was mixed with family based humor, thereby diluting the feel that you would get from watching an 'adult based comedy'.

I watched it 2nd time with family, and they didn't like the movie at all. From the title, they wanted to watch a clean family film. And they clearly were not interested in knowing/seeing about erectile dysfunction and all the problems related to that.

To say it in typical Tamil brahmin lingo, it was like "putting garlic in avial".:D

By the way, this weekend was a total movie weekend for me as I wasn't able to get out of my apartment with my driving license expired. :p

Some movies I saw,

  • Jannal Oram( was okay to watch once )
  • Naveena Saraswathi Sabatham( was okay but I didn't like it though, different attempt )
  • ivan vera mathiri( liked this one )
  • Pizza 2 : Villa( liked this one, actually liked the facts conveyed than the movie )
  • Raja Rani( liked this one too, a good movie )

Lol, cannot believe that I watched so many movies over the weekend. Probably won't be seeing any for another 1 month!

That's a lot of movies on a weekend. :D I want to watch Ivan Vera Mathiri. I liked Raja Rani to an extent. Not a fan of horror films, so will give Pizza 2 a skip. The rest, not that excited to watch!

I am waiting for Biriyani and Endrendum Punnagai to hit DVD shelves soon.

Watched Endrendum Punnagai 2nd time in theaters just wow brilliant movie.

Yeah me too! Waiting for the same. Actually they imported the reel to show here in theaters for both Dhoom 3 and Biriyani at same day, but the show was just one time on a Saturday evening. :( couldn't make it, now have to wait.

But watching a tamil movie on US theater is actually fun - watched KSS, thupaki, visvaroopam, arambam, maattran, mariyan, 7am arivu and mangatha till now here. :D Not our ambience of Satyam cinemas but its different experience of a crowd compared to quiet ones in English movies. Haha!
