The first battle (i.e. the songs) has been comprehensively won by 'Jilla'. Veeram songs are completely trash. Jilla has atleast 3 very good songs, are two decent ones.

I don't exactly remember the last time when the songs in Ajith movies were good actually. I am not sure about Jilla songs because i don't generally listen to new songs unless i hear it somewhere and like it, this does not hold true only for all A.R.Rahman and sometimes Harris Jayaraj songs.

I guess both movies will be scrap because of the directors and songs are 'so-so' and not that great. Look how Siva directed his previous one.

Before Thuppakki and Mankatha, both Ajith and Vijay were struggling to give a hit. At the mean time, Surya's fan base had grown. Only in recent times, they've retained their fan base.

Jilla songs are pretty impressive on more hearings. I mean, it has two beautiful melodies "Kandaangi" and "Verasa Pogayile". And the intro song "Paatu Onnu" is good on more hearings. Its more on the slower side, but musically I think it has more solidity than Veeram's opening song.

I have a sneaky feeling that Jilla will end up being decent to good. Nesan is an unknown quantity, whereas Siva is a known quantity (with Siruthai). I have zero hopes on Veeram. For Jilla, its a little better, but again not by too much.

After a long time,loved the songs of Vijay movie. <3
I believe Jilla would definitely get better box office collection than Veeram.

BTW,I heard that censor board was impressed with the Veeram movie.

Anyone Saw Endrendum Punnagai,Biriyani,Dhoom 3?
Those 3 are good to watch once.

I am waiting for the good prints of both Biriyani and EP. Dhoom-3 is fun if you go in with the right expectations. Don't watch it in Tamil, it'd be a waste of time. Watch in Hindi with English subtitles (if you don't understand Hindi).
