Well, the big day was on and the place was Green Park, Kanpur, on which India And Sri Lanka were to start the tournament.
The Tournament sponsor was "Jaypee Cements (Andhar se Solid)" and the series was named "Jaypee Cup 2009"

BTW, its the toss time and we have Brendon Hedger at the center.

Hedger: Good morning Kanpur.... Welcome to the first of the three test matches. Its the toss time for the first test.
Before the toss, I'd like to introduce the people with me. From me, its MS Dhoni, captain, India, Kumara Sangakkara, Captain, Sri Lanka, and at last, the match refree, Dean Jones. Dhoni to spin the coin, Sangakkara to call.

Well, both the teams lined up on the ground and everyone in the stadium was announced to stand up for National Anthems.

It was Natasha Perera, who was singing Sri Lankan National Anthem.

Both Indian openers came on to crease. Sehwag was to take the strike.
The first ball was punished for a four.. Top class effort by Virender Sehwag.
And then, Viru even din't go too aggressive as it was the longer format of the game and the players will have to play for nearly 40 hours.

Then, Dammika Prasad was the only one to pick the wickets in the first session of play.
Sehwag was dismissed when he was at 32 run mark. India were reduced to 49-1.

Jumped too high at the slips to catch that one..
Dravid walked in.
And then, after few minutes, Dravid was completely deceived by Prasad again.
Clean bowled..!! What a breakthrough here..:hpraise

Then walked in Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar.
The man, with hopes.
And from then on.. the partnership.............:hpraise:hpraise:hpraise
It was unbeaten on that days play and on that innings indeed..!!
Cover Drives, straight drives, Upper cuts, flip shots dominated the highlights..
Sachin Tendulkar completed his double century and Gautam Gambhir completed his 150 and was not out on 188.
Both the players Kept India in a commanding position.
And then, Dhoni Declared the innings as Gauti was bit tired and he was expected to take great time to get those 12 runs for his double century, which He himself admitted.
Dhoni Declares the first Innings at 14:44 PM of the second day.
Scorecard:

The extras by Sri Lankan bowling made Sangakkara lose his temper a bit.
Meanwhile, on field, small conflict between Welegedra and Gambhir took place, which was solved by themselves as they were seen moving closely when they were walking to pavilion.
