Is The Not Visible region in the stumps template transparent? Or can it be left alone?

It is not seen in-game - you can edit it however you like or leave it alone and it makes no difference.

I would recommend using the 'none_col' texture included in the dbc_textures archive and using the template as a layer blended using Soft Light (or similar) rather than starting completely from scratch with the template.

Thanks, I'll have a go at the stumps now.:)

All the Woodworm logos I could find were really small and I wanted to have a go at one of their bats, so I enlarged the logo and sharpened it up a bit by hand;

Feel free to use this :).

Anyone know the sponsor file names that correspond with them in game? In particular I'm trying to find out what the "Biggs Bat" sponsor file name is. I've tried biggs_col.dds and biggs_bat_col.dds and a bunch of others but none have worked so far.

Hello.
Just a question with the stumps - after you've created and are converting to dds, do you use DXT5 as the output format, the same as for bats? It's just I noticed the file size of the stumps in the textures folder is 171kb and when I converted my first one today, the file size was 257kb. Do I have to reduce image size in photoshop first? Or do I have to use a different output format in the DDS Converter?
Apologies if this has been documented somewhere else previously.
Thank you for your assistance.
Cheers.

The stumps need to be saved as DXT1.

I've been saving my bats as DXT3 myself, is there any benefit to using DXT5? I'm new to all this stuff and don't have much idea what all of it means, just worked it out through trial and error mostly :p.

Thanks Madman!
DXT5 - is there any benefit? I'm not sure either. I only used it as it was mentioned in the bat tutorial post. Will give it a go tomorrow.
Thanks for the prompt reply and the mods you've contributed so far - awesome!
Cheers.

No worries, good to see more people taking an interest in modding :).

A quick google search brought me to this page;
DXT compression explained - FSDeveloper Wiki

One of the quotes is this "The DXT5 formats differs from the DXT3 format in the way the alpha information is saved. The colour information is stored in the same way." so from what I know (little) it seems that the difference wouldn't be in the quality of the fidelity/colours in the texture, but in the way the alpha selection works, which I think seems to govern (at least on the bats) the way the game produces certain lighting effects which is visible in that the stickers on the bats have a glare/shininess in the game which DXT3 seems sufficient for.

As I said though, I'm complete noob when it comes to this so I could be talking nonsense. :p
