Still, an incredible match and I don't think we'll be seeing the consistent quality of passing shots we saw in this match for a very long time. This match took the top of men's tennis to a whole new level.

Yeah I also felt the same. One of THE best best best finals I have ever seen. It was crazier than a Ind-Pakistan cricket match. But this match reminded me Leander Paes/Bhupathi pair's last minute fight in one of the Olympics.

It was a few years ago when Safin beat Federer in Australian open in the semi final and then Safin thrashed Hewitt.

Nadal has won the Rogers Cup! Kiefer was blown away really, no chance what-so-ever.

He can now dethrone Federer from the top if he wins in Cincinnatti and Federer doesnt go beyond the last eight I think.

But I'd prefer having both of them in the final.

True but Federer will bounce back, this great run of late Nadal's been in will come to an end, it's what I believe a balance, you win some, you lose some and Nadal is due to lose some now

Only way I see Nadal losing matches is if he picks up an injury. Otherwise he is by far playing the best tennis in the world.

That is correct. Ferrero came close but never made the final leap.

Well done to Nadal. I hate the little spick but you can't deny he is by far the best tennis player alive at the moment. It was always going to take someone special to knock Federer off the top spot and Nadal has proved himself worthy of that accolade.

Ferrero did reach number one, but only for 8 weeks in the latter half of 2003.
