Test Cricket tweak

I think Ravi , the leg side shot with power gives most of sixes at least for me on all pitches
Ok, not too easy to score sixes on the leg side is it? Did you use the patch that I sent you the second time around yesterday when you played the above game. Try and use the batting setup files I have sent today and see how you go.

Hmm, not many bowled and LBWs at the top of the order. Its good to see that, its only the runout that annoys me. I dont mind the score as far as your chasing is not very easy. Also any yorkers at all and if yes, was the CPU good enough to bat out say around 80% of them?

Also the lower order seems to be performing to its ability. I will be pleased if they pitch in with some runs on a better pitch.

. Can I ask you this, is this the patch that I sent out to you today or are you playing using the old one. It is very pleasing to know the spinner was the most successfull on the dry wicket, the patch seems to be coming off bloody well. Do keep us updated about your scores and by winning this game you could get on a winning spree. Come on England, bring on the OZs.

I see you scored a six as well, I guess you didnt in your previous game. Which shot fetched you the maximum, let me know.
Hi Ravi, this is with the files you sent out yesterday (the last set).
The 6 was a lofted on drive ; I tried it a few times but lost wickets, Clarke and McGrath.
The spinners were the more difficult to get away, which is good on this wicket. I've also found this so far in the cpu run chase. The quickies were leaking runs all over the field, so I brought on the spinners inside the first 15 overs, and with good field placing and a disciplined line and length I've managed to pull it back a little. Zim are 153/2 after 30 overs, needing just over 4 rpo. The cpu is playing excellently, taking few risks, nudging singles and twos. I need to break a partnership which is getting on for 100 now...may bring back Goughie to try and take a wicket or two, but at the expense of runs? A tough challenge, this one :)

Disaster.
Thanks to EA bloody Sports and the poxy bugs in this game I've lost what was brewing up to be a great finish  .
I had to save and quit the game earlier, and after posting the above topic, I went back to finish off the game.
The game loaded, I bowled 1 ball, and that was it...the umpires take the bails off and it's all over. I've attached the match details screen; look at the England score, should have read 237/7  !
I've retried several times, but the same thing happens.
CRAP!!!
Just when talented ppl such as Ravi and Zim improve the gameplay, the bugs get us :wall: .

Anyone else had this problem? If so, is there a way round it, coz I'd love to finish this match.

If not, I suppose I'll just have to pretend that rain stopped play. Anyone know the D & L calculation so I can see who won?! England made 237/7 (50).
Zimbabwe are 154/2 (30.1 overs).

Ravi , I am using absolutely latest files.I am not at all unhappy about CPU score as the pitch was damp and perhaps at least once we also see in real cricket teams like Aus also fell to a low score

Here's the details
Oh what a shame, the bloody EA  . It is funny how the CPU decides to award MOM to Tresco when the entire score by England as shown in the scorecard is only 7 :o Sorry Jonah, you lose the game if were to be decided on D/L method. You should better treat this game as called off due to Crowd trouble.

The results are really very good, CPU batting well on a dry wicket and folding up for not very big score on a damp one. Sounds perfect to me, what do you guys think? Maybe, Amber can let us know if it was a bit tough to bat on the Damp pitch. It will be interesting to see how you chased on the pitch, I wont be surprised if you ended up losing although I dont wish it.

I don't think so..you are the first to discover, congrats! :P

seriously, this is :nzwarriors: stuff from Ea :wall:

Ravi,

I am again getting the bowling cursor problem with new configs

A good game in prospect - World champions in action v South Africa (me) on hard WACA wicket..Australia were off to a flying start going at more than 7 an over. Hayden was first to go beaten by Pollock incutter. In the next over Ntini removed Ponting for 0 caught at first slip. Gilchrist looked set for a big score before he ran himself out for 35. At the end of 15th over Australia reached 88/3. After a decent partnership between Clarke & Martin, SA came back with Adams removing Adams & Harvey in 2 overs. Australia from 141/4 in 25 overs were struggling at 153/7. After that lower order pu together some decent partnerships to take them to 232 all out in 40th over.

Ravi, first of all it was good to see early edge resulting in a wicket. Batsmen went for some aggressive shots in between. and very impressed with the resistance from lower order. All in all a good score by the cpu, could've been a bigger total if 3 runouts were avoided.

Thanks for that feedback Shailesh, just checking are you using the last sent files for batting and bowling. The runouts seems to be quite an issue, there can be 1 but not 3 although I wouldnt really question SA fielding capability or your fieldset might have confused the CPU. One thing is for sure, you have to be a champion bowler to have been able to bowl CPU out each time youve played a game. Let me know your experience chasing the total, hopefully the OZs will give you a stiff resistance before you could get to the total.

While the ODI testing will be on for sometime although the patch is pretty much looking good and probably will need a tweak or two to fix the Run Out issues. Meanwhile I have redone Test Cricket Tweak to suit the Cricket2002.exe and if one of you testers would like to have a go at it please let me know, will send those to you. I havent done any kind of testing on those but given all the tweakings that went into the ODI patch, the Test Cricket patch might well not be off mark by much.

Shailesh, I notice a lot of your wickets were bowled. Was this a result of the cpu missing a straight drive, or yorkers? Just out of interest...

I ended up on the losing side mainly because of superb bowling from Shane Warne.Against the fast bowlers it was not too difficult to bat.I lost 2 wickets for 64 runs .Both Sehwag and Sachin caught at boundary. Then after 21 overs Warne came and took 4 wicket of my main batsman.I lost the game by 18 runs.
The match has been great.Dont look at my score and think that batting was difficult because I dont have played much against leg spinner in c2002 so I was out of practice. For Damp pitch , I think

Ravi , seems good that the Test Cricket patch will be out soon.
Amber, Well its soon because of the experience drawn from tweaking the ODI. Anything you would like to see fixed in the ODI from your gaming experiences. Seems like we have struck a right balance on the ODI, hopefully the Test Cricket ones will also enhance the gameplay. The following are the ones kept in mind when coming up with Test Cricket Tweak :

1. Strong CPU top order batting.
2. Not very aggressive but those bowled full or short will be punished by CPU.
3. Enough number of edges but evident more when lesser batsman are batting.
4. The pitches yet again will come to play, choosing right type of bowlers for the right type of pitches are absolutely needed.
5. Probably CPU should score somewhere around 2.5-3.5 runs an over.

For Human batting :

6. Batting will be tough for sure, runs will not be easy to come by and patience will be the key.
7. Batsman will take more time to settle down. Once settled they should pretty much score fairly quickly although it depends on what kind of field the CPU will set.
8. Brittle lower order.
8. More swing, spin and seam for both CPU and Human.
9. There will always be one or two batsman in the top order who will look in top form right from the start. This is just to add to the balance of scoring.
10. More edges for shots played but defensive shots will be far safer to play with lot less edges compared to shots. This is just to force ourselves to play defense and/or leave a lot of deliveries.

If there is anything else that you might want to see that might be possible to implement in the Test Cricket Patch, express it here.
