can someone explain why england's batting is so bad? Maybe because they need more batsmen than keepers?

Burns has really impressed I must say: Yes he looks awkward now and then but he has that grit and over my dead body attitude where as Roy and Denly just look completely out of depth.

Very much like the Protea opener Dean Elgar you could say ?

Finally England are digging in and playing Test match cricket.

Yeah its good stuff. Bad luck for Smith. Hope it all works out for him.

Yes it was an horrible delivery, nothing he could do.Just hope he's ok.All players should be made to wear them protective grills at the back of the helmet, don't think Smith had one?

To be honest, Smith should never have been allowed to resume his innings after a blow like that but I'm glad his welfare is coming first this morning.

I'm finding the rush to vilify Jofra Archer to be quite tiresome. When I bowled quick I used to hit bowlers and sometimes wicket-keepers with some regularity and it's impossible to know how to react in those situations. Nervous laughter is very much a thing. It could be argued that Archer could have gone to check on Smith, but he was sprawled out sparko on his back surrounded by close fielders and medical staff - a) it's quite clear that he wasn't okay, and b) going over and potentially getting in the way of said medical attention wouldn't help him.

People need to disembark the blame train.

Great knock from Sir Ben, a declaration now?

And there it is, cue Jof?

Great stuff! Got a feeling about this! Archer and Broad steaming in![DOUBLEPOST=1566138801][/DOUBLEPOST]Going to take something special but is any how really great to see the batters giving some back!

Going to be interesting to see how the Aussies bat without Smith, especially if we take early wickets.
