Think Bairstow is taking some unfair criticism there to some extent. He's been frequently positioned all around from #3-#7 and he's never able to nail down a specific position in the XI due to the management. He batted at #4 last summer, somewhere at #5,6,7 before that, #3 at the start of the year and now he's dumped at #7. I do think that he should bat at #5 and that's final. Buttler was not selected to bat at 5 and rather to shore up the batting down the order and smack a quickfire fifty and play true to his aggressive style. Bairstow must bat at #5, Stokes at #6 and Buttler at #7 and that makes the most sense. Buttler was always meant to bat at 6/7 and he should stay there regardless.

It's time the England selectors select a consistent batting order and stop with the Bairstow batting order switching.

And that is exceptionally harsh on Rohit Sharma, who averages nearly 40 in Tests with three tons.

The fact is he scored all of them against weaker Test playing nations. He just has 6 fifties against stronger teams in about 20 matches. Averages close to 90 against West Indies and Sri Lanka while about 35 against NZ. Against rest of them he averages hardly 25. He doesn't play well against the moving ball and requires to hit a big shot every now and then to keep him settled on the crease for longer periods. He has had a lot of potential to be as good as someone like Virat Kohli even at the Test level but lacks skills and consistency. Trust me this is coming from a huge fan of Rohit Sharma.

Agree with the notion on Sam Curran not being in the playing XI because of more accomplished allrounders (in Stokes and Woakes) already in the team.

But I think England should find a way to get him in and the only spot I see open is probably that of Bairstow. Ali has had a horrible 10 months or so and Bairstow isn't far either.

Finally a Archer bouncer that hits Smith

I hope he isn’t out the series though

Good decision by the Physio there, there was no way that he could have continued. Do Australia get to use a concussion substitute?

Pretty disgusting that Jofra shows no remorse after a man has been hit and laying flat on the floor. Laughing with Buttler as well. I know it isn't compulsory but come on mate.

Crowd also cheering a man that has been hit one the hit is horrible as well. Reminds me of the NBA Finals this year where the Toronto crowd cheered after KD got injured.[DOUBLEPOST=1566049905][/DOUBLEPOST]

Unless we send Ponting out there, I don't see any like for like replacement. :p
