Really tense last few overs with Cummins bowling well and fast - Stoneman handled it well I thought.

Aussies ahead but England certainly still in it - tough it out early next morning and as the ball softens we can hopefully up a gear.

I just hope England don't come out looking to bat for time. I think they have the batting to win the test. I don't think they have the bowling though. I'd probably have picked Curran or another batter over Ball.

i think first hour is just about getting through unscathed, at that point the ball is doing nothing and we step up then

It's not just that. I think they have 3 other blokes that are also capable of it. It's his energy, presence and most importantly his attitude that is missed. I think Woakes is a better bowler than Stokes, but Stokes has a way with making big moments in the game his. Even with ball in hand. I feel England are missing 20-25% artillery in this battle without him. I think they can win without him for sure, but my mind says if he's coming back from the third test, England won't mind it being 0-0 or 0-1 going into it.

Absolute gem of a knock by Smith. The best test batsman today. I liked how he didn't look for runs all the time and was outthinking the bowler all the time, that's the beauty of test matches. It was either block or leave for 15 balls, then a single or boundary. However, Cummins batted superbly as well, giving good support to Smith.

England can still win here. If Root or the middle order fires, anything can happen here. I think they are capable of winning the game for sure.
