You cannot compare players of different eras. Bradman played Larwood in a cap. Smith has a Masuri/Shrey with a titanium visor to boot.

He's going to be the greatest after Bradman.

100%. Scores runs against any opposition, no one can figure out a plan to him and he’s averaging 60 after 100 innings. Right now he’s in a different league to Kallis, Amla, Tendulkar, Ponting and the rest

Braman, Kallis, Ponting and other greats played matches on green tops as well not the flat decks as of now.

Facts are facts mate. Smith averages higher and peaked higher. The fact that Ponting’s peak was as high as Smith’s shows that it was possible to perform at Smith’s level, they just weren’t good enough

LOL.

Kallis was a different beast altogether. IMHO, he's the best test cricketer I've seen play in 25 years of watching. His role with the ball and in the slips is vastly under-rated because of his enormity as a batsman. I'm an Indian and while it was quite an honour, sometimes a privilege to hail from the land of a certain Tendulkar because he put us on a sporting map in terms of excellence but with age and practicality I have no qualms in saying Kallis was just another dimension. Like I said, in my generation Tendulkar was the best batsman we've produced and Zaheer Khan our best quick. Kallis matches both of them. THAT is how good Jaques was. And, I think SA along with England is probably the toughest place to bat.

Okay but I’m talking about batting

Not so good now.
Lyon might end up as the leading wicket taker, the way he's bowling.

Too early to say.

Moeen Ali has got a fifth-day pitch to bowl to the Aussies, and lets not forgot how they faired against in the Indian spinners. The game is far too early to call.

As long as England get around a 200 lead, they are more than in this game.

Why are you not in the pool Dutch?!

Geez root looks out of sorts, not convincing atm...but he's gutsing it out. I think I'll back him in for a 100 anyway. And I'm backing Ali to get struck on the badge!

Root's off. Looking tougher for England. Just Bairstow and Woakes left in the shed. A little worrying for England as they haven't even got to 100 lead.

A 200-230 run target will be tricky but thats a huge ask right now. Should target 175 first and then 200 and so on. Interesting test this and for sure as expected England wont roll out

This team has heart but is also very naïeve and the Aussies deservedly on top. Cant see England running through them. The lager louts are now getting seriously on my feckin tits.

170 run target, I see Australia winning this in a canter.
