Flintoff and Jones stun Australia

England pulled off an unlikely victory as Flintoff and Jones ran thru Australian lineup. At one stage Australia looked well on the way to a victory after Hayden blazed away to 62 (opening of 74) but the introduction of Flintoff and Jones proved to be the turning point. Australian middle order had no answer to their superb spell. Katich tried to keep the innings together but (fittingly) Hoggard came back in his second spell to wrap up the inning.
Well then, celebrations all around for England fans :cheers as they got just the start they wanted for this series. For Australia, they have to regroup and make a strong comeback in the 2nd test at Chester-le-street starting in a few days. Till then it's good bye from Lords

a combination of both..actually I was looking for a quick finish being 70 for no loss but then.... :( so yeah the patch is certainly challenging. will be interesting to see the latest version (and hopefully some bigger scores, for me that is)

Lord's - that well-known bowler-friendly ground :D What are the scores going to be like if you get a green pitch turning up?

Good luck for match 2. This is an enjoyable story so far. Must work on my poll predictions though! :D

Well the ground has hosted a test before. 2nd game vs Zimbabwe in 2003. Not one of the more fashionable venues, but certainly valid.

Better pack your overcoat as it will probably be chilly :)
