Say if you had to make your own XI, and had to compete against 5 other teams.

but the teams are all completely different. Its not all the Indian players on one team, and the australians on another...its all mixed up, the team you would want.

Say you got the very first pick, which player would you choose? A good allrounder, a specialist batsman, a great bowler...??

If I had the first pick, I would start my XI by picking Andrew Flintoff -By far the best allrounder, and can come up huge with the bat and ball...

...Then the other 4 teams would choose their players, but the cant choose andrew flintoff or a player thats allready been picked by another team.

Remember this is a draft for current cricket players, not ones from the past...

also what would be your choise for the best current XI in test form, and ODI
(cant use retired players)

heres mine: (ODI)

1. V. Sehwag
2. A. Gilchrist (wk)
3. K. Sangakkara
4. R. Dravid (capt)
5. A. Flintoff
6. k. Peiterson
7. S. Afridi
8. S. Pollock
9. B. Lee
10. M. Muralithran
11. G. McGrath

(test)

1. V. Sehwag
2. R. Ponting
3. R. Dravid (capt)
4. B. Lara
5. J. Kallis
6. A. Flintoff
7. A. Gilchrist (wk)
8. S. Warne
9. B. Lee
10. M. Muralithran
11. G. McGrath

I know I know, Ponting is not an opener, but i had to fit him in somewhere, and he seemed like the best fit, to accompany Sehwag. He usually plays at no.3, but Dravid is a better cricke tplayer than Ponting, so i had to have dravid at no.3...

Man my teams look unbeatable!! :D

lets see your XI, and your first round pick...

Dravid better than Ponting? I dont thinkk so mate. But anyway...if i chose a bowler first I would go for McGrath, a batsmen I would go for Graeme Smith and an all-rounder would no doubt be Freddy Flintoff. These are selections for the one-day format.

It's not very clear. Ponting's style is significantly more aggressive and yet almost as consistent. Besides, where does it say Dravid is the current best?

That ODI team would rely heavily on Flintoff and Murali. Would be forced to score probably 280+ almost every match. Pollock has averaged about 1 wicket per match for the last two years. Razzaq and Kallis are not particularly capable and Tendulkar and Gayle are only part-timers. Harmison is ok, but there are better.

I can't believe you picked Stephen Harmison over Glenn McGrath or Brett Lee. I also can't believe you picked Abdul Razzaq over Andrew Symonds.

Your Test side looks pretty solid though

Yeah got to agree about the drawbacks in the ODI side. I probably went too much into the depth in batting. But I prefer choosing Steve Harmison to Brett Lee as the former can get bounce as well as pace. Also no players on or above 35 in my one day side. So this rules out Glen McGrath. I guess on this basis, I might as well replace Shaun Pollock with Brett Lee, to add more firepower. Regarding Symonds and Razzaq - I would go for the latter as he is a better bowler, and we have enough batting in that side!
