Lee is good, but he doesnt have a good partner.Stuart Clark rarely plays for the team given Ponting's liking of Johnson. And Johnson, well he is still a kid.

Steven Smith might turn out to be our next spinner if given the chance.
Pace bowling we are fine in Test matches, ODI our bowlers don't seem to be as effective i.e Clark.

Lee, Johnson, Hopes and Bracken will take you through ODIs for the next four years. If you can get a fit Watson as well, then ODI dominance will be assured. Having Hopes and Watson, who are very competant batsman, to bowl 20 overs in an ODI is priceless.

We need Tait to get back in his tune .

ODI : Lee,Tait,Johnson,Bracks,Watson and Hopes.

TEST : Lee,Tait,Clark,Johnson

Hopes is hopeless in sub continent. Watson is looking more deadly. Bowling over 140ks and also bowling intelligently. Warnie I think has straighten him up.

Hopes is solid, haven't seen him over in India to comment on his form there. He has shown he can open alright, and Watson if he stays fit was always in the plans to open.

I still have no faith in Johnson, hes going to have to step up big time for our ODI attack to be threat. Bracken can easily be hit sometimes so when he doesn't fire again we have problems.

No offence but everyone is speaking as if only the Aussies are aging and the rest are growing younger.Every country must spot young talent and groom them for atleast 3-4 years if they are promising to be exceptional. If one country has one 20 year old exceptional talent the aussies have 2-3 30 year old established players waiting to fill the boots of the retiring players. They may not be the best(sometimes) but they at least have a chance of being consistent with all the experience they gather over the years.
Which just brings out the fact that Australia have been spotting and developing the best young talent in the world for the past 20 years.

Hopes was very good last year in the sub-continent.

6 wickets at an average of 29 and an economy rate of 4.6. BETTER than Brett Lee. Okay, he may have struggled then, but he's improved more since then. Especially with the bat.

Watson can't swing the ball. All he can rely on is his pace. That's why he gets carted.
Hopes>Watson

Tait in ODIs yes, Tait in Tests, no. Even with the help of a bouncy wicket he got carted. Imagine if all those (Lee, Tait, Johnson) had an off day. The opposition would make 450! What we need is a bowler who can create alot of steep bounce. We don't have that right now.

Isn't Peter Siddle one of those steep bounce bowlers?
Bollinger and Noffke are consistent enough and Hilfy at his peak can bowl long spells.

Siddle is a great future prospect, and Bollinger has emerged as the next man in line. Hilfenhaus does not deserve his chance after last season, he needs to establish some consistency before he should be considered.
