:aus: :ar: Shane Watson
2007 & 2015 ODI CWC Champion

What makes a team formidable? Ofcourse every team has a dashing opener or a reliable batter alongside a strike bowler and a mysterious spinner. But what most of the common sides lack, is a proper genuine pace all-rounder that provides the team ample of balance with the bat as well as the bowl. Watto is one such example of completing a side's equation with whatever is left to complete the puzzle. He can open the batting easily while can also come down the order as a finisher and slog it outside the park easily, can chip in few overs in the middle with the old ball, or even open the bowling if at all required. A player like him is always a must have in the first XI to provide that extra cushion to the side.

Another pick made based on test records, Sunil Gavaskar averages 51.1 in tests after scoring 10,122 runs for India. He will be my first Opener.

If it were a Test XI, I'd have gone for Gavaskar anyday- not so much an ODI person tbh.

@Viper.
I would personally bat this version of Watson at 7. Just saying.

It's a rotating order. I don't think any lower order is ever fixed. It all depends on the match situations. But I would surely put him there as I feel he can justice that role.

I might not require a proxy pick. Though things can change quickly given that my next turn comes later.
