Lancers vs The Falcons

A must win situation this for the Falcons. Statistically, the Falcons are better, but Lancers prove to be a tough team who are having a bad time. The reason this is an important game is because of the current standings. Let's have a look

Code:
Team Pld Won Tie Lost Points Net RR
1. The Mighty Kings 8 7 0 1 28 10.45
2. Cc lycksele 8 6 0 2 24 9.70
[B]3. The Falcons 8 6 0 2 24 8.48[/B]
4. Lancers 8 5 0 3 20 0.48
5. ali tigers 8 4 0 4 16 3.86
6. Uzair United 8 2 0 6 8 -5.61
7. AllStarz 8 2 0 6 8 -9.33
8. umairsarsenalcricket 8 0 0 8 0 -18.04

You can see that the Falcons stand at 3rd place. This still is anyone's group. The Mighty Kings play the Falcons next week, but in order to get to the number 1 spot, the Falcons must win against the Lancers first. Last time around, Lancers won the game in a close contest. This time though The Falcons are playing at home, where they feel comfortable with the conditions. Can the Falcons win this important game?

The Falcons and Lancers played another cracker of a game! But once again, there came a result that the Falcons won't like at all. A result which makes it harder for them to go to first place. The Falcons lost the toss and were sent to field first.

It all started out really well, as the Falcons made the opening Lancer pair hop around and take a long walk back. The score was 4/3, and then 30/4. Everything was looking great. But again the middle order came to the rescue. A great partnership brought the Lancers to 196. Mahmood and Tuckett finished off strongly though restricting the Lancers to 218.

But to the Falcons surprise, the pitch was green, and the Lancers were carrying a remarkable spin attack! That surprisingly led to the Falcons downfall, as they were bundled out for 125. Abid bowled really well.

The man of the Match though went to Mahmood for his great bowling, all for a lost cause.

The Falcons vs Bushwackers

The first game of the Planetcricket Battrick League 2007 for The Falcons, and this one should be a cracker! Two very even teams and that should make this a very good contest between ball and bat. Just to look at some previous record, the Bushwackers won the game quite easily. They prefer to chase, and they chase well. The player to look out for is Jay Ryan who picked up 4 wickets the last time, these two teams met. Here are some basic stats:

The Falcons hosted the Bushwackers to in the first game of the Planetcricket Battrick league. Bushwackers won the toss, and as expected put the Falcons into bat first. The pitch was hard and fast, good for batsmen, and bowlers with accuracy.

An early loss of opener Nisar led to a few problems, but a huge partnership between Shorey and Shahbaz gave The Falcons the edge. It was all going srong, but a tragic run-out occurred which sent Shorey back to the pavilion. Lister and Shahbaz put up another 57 run partnership, and then Ryan came back to take yet another wicket. Ansari and Shahbaz remained not out on their respective scores as The Falcons posted a massive target of 327/3. Shahbaz once again played very well.

327 is never a easy target, and especially not when the captain goes early. Mahmood and Ashraf made great breakthroughs and the tight bowling of Inamullah and Burn kept the pressure on. Tuckett was expensive, but in the end Fiddes's 91 was not enough as the Falcons won a cracker by 21 runs.

As expected Shahbaz got the Man of the Match for this match.

Bushwhackers have been dissapointing all this season. Guess they aren't taking these games too seriously, or have stagnated for a while.
