Welcome to the Manchester United Match Tracker On MUTV for the opening day of the season against Blackburn Rovers here at Old Trafford. We will bring you text commentary and coverage from the match as well as post and pre match analysis from ex-Reds legend Eric Cantona. We now have cofirmation of the team news. Manchester United start the season like this:

GK Van Der Sar

DR Gary Neville

DL Patrice Evra

DC Rio Ferdinand

DC Nemanja Vidic

MR Cristiano Ronaldo

ML RyanGiggs

MC Owen Hargreaves

MC Michael Carrick

ST Paul Scholes

ST Wayne Rooney

Subs Bench:
Kusczak
Brown
Park
Solskjaer
Saha

Well Eric, interesting team selection. No place for Louis Saha, as Paul Scholes joins Wayne Rooney up front. The new man Owen Hargreaves takes Scholes' place in the midfield. What are your views on the selection?

Cantona: Well, I think that Scholes will at a role just behind Rooney, will support from the wings with the energy of Ronaldo and Giggs.

Ok, now lets take a look at the Blackburn Rovers line-up:

GK: Friedel
DR: Neil
DL: Gray
DC: Ooiger
DC: Kane
MR: Bentley
ML: Pedersen
MC: Tugay
MC: Emerton
ST: Roberts
ST: McCarthy

Subs Bench:

Enckleman
McEveley
Douglas
Savage
Gallagher

So Eric, what is your view on how our visitors Blackburn Rovers will play this game.

Cantona: I expect them to be cautious during the first half and try to nick a goal later on. They have dangerous attacking options with Bentley, Pedersen, Roberts and McCarthy.

ooh ah Eric Cantona ooh ah Eric Cantona! No Saha? We migt struggle for an out and out striker here but our midfield is sublime

Nice presentation mate :D

Scholes up front, that role will fit the ginger ninja perfectly and I think this could be a perfect start to the season for United

Sorry Culli, I forgot to credit you for the fantastic player profile pics, I've edited the credit into my post now.

Old Trafford looks really good on match day. They had lots of loyal fans :p.

Welcome to MUTV Match Tracker for today's opening league game of the season between Manchester United and Blackburn Rovers. The play is about to start and we will bring you commentary from the action and post-match analysis from The King that is Eric Cantona.

0 Mins - The referee gets the 2006/2007 season underway with a blow of his pink whistle.

4 Mins - GOAL! - The visitors go ahead within 4 minutes at Old Trafford and its a shock! Pedersen makes a run before crossing from the wing. New Blackburn striker Benni McCarthy makes a bullet header past Edwin Van Der Sar and the few Blackburn supporters in the ground go ballistic.

14 Mins - Oh, that was a chance. Ronaldo's corner meets the head of Ryan Giggs at the back post, but the Welshman can only head onto the bar and the ball runs harmlessly away.

18 Mins - Blackburn really could have doubled their lead there. Pedersen dribbled past a couple of United players, but fired his shot just wide of the post, with Van Der Sar left helpless.

33 Mins - Another chance for Blackburn. David Bentley's header was skied over the bar, he should have done better there.

39 Mins - That should have been 1-1, Hargreaves slid Rooney in one-on-one against Friedel, but the big American reached his foot out and saved the shot from Rooney.

45+1 Mins - GOAL! - United are back on level terms in the first minute of stoppage time. Rooney dribbled past two Blackburn defenders before unleashing a unstoppable shot past Friedel into the top corner from the edge of the area.

Half Time ------- Manchester United 1-1 Blackburn Rovers

65 Mins - Woah, this 2nd half is slow. Not a chance worthy of mention yet. Although, its worth noting Old Trafford has had a lick of paint, watching that dry is more interesting than the game at the moment!

71 Mins - Finally a chance, and a good one at that! Hargreaves strike on target is parried by Friedel to Giggs who has an open net from the edge of the area. Giggs carelessly blazes over and its a good chance spurned.

74 Mins - McEveley replaces Gray in the Blackburn line up

77 Mins - Another chance for United, this time it fell to Wayne Rooney. He shot over the bar from about 12 yards about.

84 Mins - A second subsitution by Blackburn as Douglas replaces Bentley.

85 Mins - That was a good position but Ronaldo couldn't make the most of it. Right on the edge of the box but it goes straight into the wall.

Full Time ------ Manchester United 1-1 Blackburn Rovers

Well a facinating game played today at Old Trafford. First of all we'll go down into the tunnel as our reporter interviews man of the match debutant Owen Hargreaves.

Reporter: Owen, how does it feel to make your debut in a Manchester United shirt?

OH: Well, it was great to be playing for such a historic club and the atmosphere was incredible out there, the best stadium in the world.

Reporter: And you've got Man Of The Match on debut, that must be a good feeling?

OH: Erm...well yeah, its nice to have had a good start but in all honesty, it would have meant more to me had we have won the game.

Reporter: Well, congratulations and enjoy this bottle of champagne, sponsored by Barclays.

OH: Oh cheers, Barclays makes champagne now do they!

Well that was Owen Hargreaves with a bit of humour there. Eric we'll have a look at the stats and then hear your post-match analysis.

Well Eric, what are your views on todays match.

Cantona: Well, in ze first half, ze game was quite even, both sides had chances and 1-1 was probably a fair reflection. However, Blackburn didn't have a chance in ze second half and United dominated it. They will be disappointed that they didn't capitalize and get a winner. Owen Hargreaves played very well on his ze debut, and it was a very clean game as the stats suggest, with just 3 fouls in the game. Thats how the game flowed so well. United showed they're dominance with 9 shots compared to Blackburn's 6, and 51% posession compared to Blackburn's 49.

Thanks for that Eric. Now lets take a look at the scores from around the ground and the table after Match Day 1.
