Story The Java Kings - The sky's the limit (BT)

Ok. If FC isn't really your thing then I guess 14 players for OD should be enough.

It's a humble pie

The Java Kings played Street CC in a BT20 game on the HP Pavilion. Captain Bastianpillai won the toss and elected to field on what was a rather green pitch. Street CC managed to get 186/5 in their allotted 20 overs with Gadd knocking down 73 off 41 balls which included 10 (4?s) and 1 (6). The Kings didn?t have anything to write home about their bowling with only Dean Keigher standing out with figures of 4-0-25/2, Crow and Padayachie were the other wicket takers.

?It?s good to see that Padayachie bowled a lot better than he did in the OD league maybe this is a sign of future things to come from the Indian, he did go for a few runs but he tied them down a lot of the times? said a rather joyful coach Jeffey Bailey

As hotdogs stands were selling hotdogs, the beer tent could not keep up with the demand from the public as T20 fever started to creep in, this was a very special occasion as last season?s T20 was rather dull when the team ended in third.

?I come here every game to support my team, and this is a special day all T20 games are special, we are going to win this competition I know it?s a long shot but we?ve got one heck of team and bro we?re the best? said a rather overjoyed spectator clearly showing his with the Java Kings.

186 within 20 overs on a green pitch seems like a mountain to climb and with a squad that?s currently playing the second division it makes life a lot more harder, but then again if you had Cliffe and Barrett in your squad you probably would say it?s likely that 186 just maybe just may not be enough. Cliffe and Barrett made those words rung so true as they blasted past the Street CC bowlers with immaculate stroke playing chasing down 186 if it was a low set target to win. Barrett?s impressive 78 off 46 balls could not overshadow the brilliant and disappointing 99 by Cliffe missing out on his second T20 hundred. The Kings knocked down the score with all ten wickets in tact and an added bonus of having done it in 17.2 overs.

The Move sees the team go in second spot after Phis Fire demolished muscles xi in their T20 game

BT20 Qualifying Group: 91 (South Africa)

Team Pld Won Tie Lost Points Net RR
1. Phis Fire

2. Java Kings

3. The Streets CC

4. muscles xi
1 0 0 1 0 -7.20

The team will play against an English squad tomorrow named NPUCC and then the following day against Muscles xi, bookies are confident that the team could upset another higher division team but are still very scared that Phis Fire could demolish the Kings but only time will tell.

Winning by 10 wickets in very first game is really something huge to achieve. Keep it up. :) Good luck for tom's game.

Barrett and Cliffe do it again!

For the second time in a short period of space the Kings beat a higher division team undoubtedly stating that when in BT20 anything is probable.

Pursuing down an enormous total of 201 to triumph Barrett took no time smashing 17 runs off the first over which included two huge sixes, Barrett?s awesomeness with the bat went on to make a 50 off just 21 balls, while Cliffe on the other side was happy to watch his partner do the harm.

Muscles xi who suffered a heavy defeat to Phis Fire were confident that a score over 200 would see them to victory but like my great uncle always said it ain?t over till the fat lady sings or in this case it ain?t over till Graham Barrett?s batted. The Java Kings knew that today?s game was to be very important for their hopes of upsetting Phis Fire in tomorrows clash held at the HP Pavilion .

?It was a good game we will still shaky but good, we know that tomorrow the fires are going to be a tough team perhaps the biggest challenge these guys have had their pitch is based on the same as ours so they?ll be very much looking forward to play us? quoted Jeffey Bailey coach of the Kings.

If anything The Kings have a real good home record under Bailey only losing two games in his reign as coach the losses game against Rampaging Dolphins and B.A.L.L.S but have yet to lose a match in a T20 game at home could history be on the team?s side or could the record be broken and shattered to pieces.

The win against Muscles xi sees the Kings still in at second spot even though they achieved another ten wicket victory over their opponents, what would make them happy is to notice that Phis Fire did struggle against Street CC with a much mediocre opening pair compared to The Kings but it?s going to need a lot of hard work and not relying on their laurels that are Graham Barrett and Collin Cliffe.

This stuff happens…

Maybe the publicity over shocking another big division team was too much for the players as they endured an embarrassing defeat to Phis Fire. But on the other hand The Kings went in as the lowest ranked side of all the teams and didn’t walk out with the wooden spoon at least.

Now that the BT20 is over the Kings will concentrate on the season forward even though they’re still in week 17 of the SA region.

“It’s never to early to look forward on the season ahead yes this was a big loss to us but it’s not a major set back, I spoke to the team afterwards and they were very down but I told them chin up guys we have goals to achieve in our next season” quoted Jeffey Bailey

For every Battrick team success means finishing first in each division or winning all their games, but for The Java Kings success has another meaning.

The commissioner of The Java Kings, Richard Cliffe, will be leaving his job at the end of the season. Cliffe, father of Java King's opener, Collin Cliffe, will be relocating to Switzerland with his wife Tamera.
Commenting on Cliffe's decision to go to Switzerland, the chairman of The Java Kings, Shevchenko, said: “Having known and respected Richard, I am obviously sorry to see Richard go. However, we understand his decision and are very grateful for everything he has contributed to our team.”

The kings must have thought they were invincible

At least you didn't come last. Did you come 3rd on 2nd?

The Java Kings ended their BT20 campaign in second place. With the admin position up for grab four persons have already contacted the head office, they are Tom Pearchant, Vincent Meyer, Lee Smook and Warren Deventer but rumours have it that CEO Shev who was out for comment due to an appointment over a possible claim in WVW (wrestling e-fed) community have had talks with an unknown source to take over Richard Cliffe's job.

The Kings will travel to West Indies with their second team as they are playing in a friendly even Bailey decided that touring with wasn't worth it. The team were appointed a FC coach in Jimmy Olsen, Olsen will also be in control of the youth/2nd team "it's my first game in as coach and I believe I could take a lot off Jeffey" qouted a very delighted Olsen.

The decision came to appoint Olsen after The Kings fixtures list was extended and Bailey could not keep up with demand "I brought Jimmy's name forward to the board and they approved of it,this is going to give me a lot of time with the senior squad in order to prepare them for the next season" said Bailey

Also the JKCA (Java King's Cricket Ass.) will be in talk with both Bailey, Olsen and players to see whom Bailey will allow to play in FC, a contracted player will not be allowed to play any FC games until the contract has expired.
