Had not checked this thread for ages.

MASSIVE CONGRATULATIONS MATE. I played this prank on April Fool's but to have a "daddy to be" on the forums is just excellent. I'm creating a congratulations thread just for you. Well done mate and good luck with the birth. Hope it all goes well. You have my best wishes. You better not be on here when your wife goes into labour. I don't think she would be too pleased :p

England collapsed to be all out for 139, setting Australia a near impossible target of 397. It was a forgone conclusion that Australia had been shut out of the match already, but it was heartening to see the bowlers run through the English line-up.
Tylecote was the first one to go, having a wild swing across the line and a straight Giffen delivery caught him plumb. The English hopes of some quick runs rested on Read and when he was out for 47 with the score on 137, the rest just folded like a pack of cards. Read had his middle stump knocked back by Palmer and two deliveries later, Bates?s leg stump went for a walk, courtesy Palmer. Studd was safely pouched by Bannermann off Giffen. A couple of balls later, everyone was walking back as Bannermann held an overhead catch to get the last man Morley off Giffen. 4 wickets for 2 runs, that?s something that has become synonymous with the English.
By the time, tea was announced, Australia were already 4 down for 80 runs.Massie was the first one to go, with Steel timing his jump with perfection to catch Massie off Barlow.Sudd took a stunner to dismiss Bannermann off Barlow with the score at 34.Horan?s attempt to clear Leslie at Mid-on were futile and Australia slid to 3 for 46 off 15.3 overs. With score at 58 and Mcdonnell yet to score, he was put down by Tylecote much to the bowlers dismay. And then came the moment of brilliance by Bates. Murdoch stuck a Barlow delivery towards midwicket. With the ball already past him, Bates stretched and managed to pull off a stunner.
With Giffen in the middle with Mcdonell, England would be hoping to finish this off tday and go for Kangaroo hunting. Lets see how that turns out.

Australia live to fight for another day, a big thanks to Giffen who is nearing a maiden century. Australia ended the day at 224 for 6, still 173 more to get. Their reprisal was led by a 56 ball 50 by Giffen. The last session saw 144 runs being added. Giffen and Mcdonnell extended their partnership to 76 before Mcdonnell?s luck ran out. A Morley Yorker slipped his defence after leading a charmed life. He was dropped by Read at point and then Tylecote put down a sitter in the next over. The English seemed too reluctant to be in the field. Of course the match was theirs for the taking but someone forgot to tell Giffen. He further added 39 runs with Palmer. With score on 183, Leslie fielding close to the stump, hung on to take a spectacular catch. Blackham, inspired by Giffen added a further 41 runs to frustrate the English.
To say that the Match is over would be an understatement. Australia have a long way to go and the English know that once they take Giffen out of the scenario, the ,match is theirs.A great day for the kids from nearby school who have perhaps seen a master craftman at work today. They undoubtedly would boast with pride? I was there when Giffen blasted the English!? Giffen's innings is a prime example of tycipal Australian spirit of not giving up till the end.Well Done.

On a day of poor fielding and bad behaviour, England won the match by 123 runs. England winning was a forgone conclusion once they raked up 400 odd runs on Day1. It was heartening to see Giffen standing tall amonst the ruins. With some help from the other end, he might as well had achieved the impossible.
Blackham was the beneficiary of poor English fielding as Steel failed to hang on a simple catch off Ulyett.Blackham was late on the shot and the ball just spooned in the air.Steel at Silly Point, spilled a sitter. The breakthrough came when Bates went through Blackham’s defences and Australia slipped to 240/7 . Giffen , however continued to frustrate the bowlers, so much so that Ulyett, of all people, gave him a earful. Giffen just smiled and turned. As Ulyett passed the umpire EH Elliott warned him against intimidating the batsmen.Guffen calmly stroked the next ball past midwicket to reach a well deserved 100 off just 127 balls.Bates struck the death blow, when he bowled Giffen off a beauty to take the air out of the Australian resistance. Giffen walked off to a standing ovation, and Ulyett ran all the way from Deep Midwicket to congratulate Giffen.
Garrett, meanwhile was living a charmed life. Bligh put down his mistimed hook off Ulyett . It took a brilliant catch from Barlow off Bates to get rid of Garrett with score at 272/9. Palmer was dropped by Steel before Leslie took the things into his own hands and slipped an off cutter which deceived Palmer and ended the game.
England have done well to bounce back and keep the series alive. Their catching and behavior needs to improve. Maybe like a hundred years down the line when Australians gave the English a mouthful, we can trace that to this match. A bad day and a half costed Australians the match but atleast they dismissed English below 150 second time around and it was a spirited fightback in the second innings, although it was doomed from the start.
