Im not liking the idea of returning to the old system. The whole idea of the new system is to give long term goals and achievement, which a knockout doesn't do. Some potential ideas based on the current system are:
1) Play each team once only, halves the season length straight away and seems sensible. The 22 + 2 week league becomes 11+2, much better
2) Make smaller leagues, but more of them. Again, we get through seasons quicker
If we were to keep the current system then only one of those is necessary. If we want a seperate cup competition then we might need both.
