The PlanetCricket Battrick Sledging Thread

Well this is good, everyone is either inactive, dropping out, or has forgot about this. I can understand why people would want to drop out, but poor effort on everyone else's part, can't say im best pleased.

Major re-shuffle coming up I think, might be sooner rather than later because the amount of active teams in League One is a joke at the moment. Would anyone have complaints about the season ending prematurely?

If I keep doing my giant-killing then I will have this going as long as you like!

And that's the end of the match. Spinners United CCC won by 7 wickets.
The Falcons 256-9
Spinners United CCC 257-3

:D

No complaints from me, rather end it soon to get a proper set-up again, rather than having 50% of the teams having bye's and leading to a minor stuff up.

No complaints from me, love the PC league, get some good competition and is great to show how good Hiller is to everyone else :p

Ok, well im going to draw up a list of the current active PC League members tonight, see how many ive got, and decide what to do next.

Looking to be more creative, so some input would be nice as to what you would all like to take part in etc.

Well if your going to redo it I think it would be wise to merge with the shield

I would say so, only two forfeited games so far. Everyone seems to be enjoying it so im happy

Ok well at this point with the Shield going well, I will leave that be, the shield has always been a feeder setup for teams who would eventually join the main PC league, so I will leave it like that for now.

I will draw up the list of active PC League teams when I get home later and post them up.

no complaints, providing im given another title :p

i think ive suggested this before but how about having an F.A cup style competition ran alongside the main league, with matches every 2-4 weeks or so, it would make the league last longer, which is a disadvantage, however once teams are out it frees up some weeks for them to have friendlies with people they want to play (maybe from PC but in a different division, or elsewhere from BT)

and the random draw element would be exciting, potential upsets from teams in lower divisions (who wouldn't normally meet each other) its just an idea

I thought of that a while back but didnt make too much of it because of increasing season length, but if we were to do it then I would be happy to organise that tournament alongside the Championship with Briggsey

I think if that were to come in, the league would realistically need to be shortened. It would make the whole PC season span a lot longer, potentially 3 Battrick seasons which is pretty much a full year. Long time for new teams to wait?

I'm potentially thinking of going back to the old system, small groups of 4 followed them by knock outs etc, like a Champions League format, because the league system to me is taking too long and is very long and drawn out, whereas that system would be shorter and would allow the smaller teams a fair bite at the nail.

At the moment its just a case of throwing ideas on the board, nothing will be decided as of yet.

I like your idea, I was thinking along the lines of more smaller groups or divisions maybe and running it that way. Mainly to avoid the length of the competition when people nail a brilliant cup run. A long competition doesn't bother me, nor will a short and regular one. But I think your idea sounds great with all the top teams of the groups going into a knockout stage, as that doesn't really negate the upsets you get in the league format.

Knock-outs are fine, but the teams should be given a bit of a run before getting knocked out.
Many small divisions, top two promote, then the promoting teams slotted into an even number of small divisions where it is like a league. 4 teams in a division, each team play other team twice, then top team from the number of division progress to a series of Quarter finals, semis, then finals.

EDIT:

Some numericals:

Say there are 30 teams.

6 divisions of 5 teams each. Each team plays the other once, and top two promote. This ensures atleast 4 games for every team, 4 weeks for this stage.
Then, we have 12 teams. Split into 4 divisions of 3 each. Each team plays the other twice, and the top 2 move into the Quarter-finals. This means 4 more games, another 4 weeks.
Quarter finals are with 8 teams. One week, then goes onto the Semis with 4 teams, then the finals with 2 teams. Another 3 weeks.
Whole thing done and dusted in XI weeks, so should fit well into a BT season taking the Cup into account. This also ensures atleast 4 weeks of games for the weak teams, and allows a nice healthy number of 30 teams to play.
This can also be extended to, say, 40 teams (8 divisions of 5 each, top two promote. 4 divisions of 4 then, top two move into quarter finals, then semis, then finals. 13 weeks in all), and possibly more. Is't very demanding on new managers as it isn't a long term commitment seeing how they are likely to get kicked out early, but satisfies those who like a nice long run (Unless they are crap, then they'll have to settle for just 4 confirmed games). Groups can be completely random, or seeded.

Thoughts?
