Draft: The RNG Draft (Panesar Edition)

Well then, what do you use?

For detailed stats I prefer CricketArchive but they have a paywall subscription unless you use... other methods.

EDIT - scratch detailed, accurate would be more accurate.

As much as TV admits his love of Rilee Rossouw, and as much as he's by far the second best healthy spinner at Lord's atm (RasHead Khan clears), Rootalitharan is clearly the pick here.

Adam Voges actually had an insane international career, especially in its twilights around 2015 or so. Unfortunately, we had a stacked batting lineup so he rarely got time until Mike Hussey retired.

I reckon this is Jack Blackham, the wicketkeeping maestro, in a regular draft. But this isn't and there's a Nawaz Sharif around every corner, so Jermaine Blackwood it is.

Manjurul isn't that bad, come on!

Like Voges before, Michael Neser is unfortunate to be stuck in our best pace bowling era since McGrath's retirement. He's a quality player who will hit the line and length, and in limited overs has a habit of taking hat-tricks. I'm also fairly sure I've seen him in an Italian restaurant before (that or he has a doppelganger).

An opener, named Cook? Sounds good - this one isn't Alastair though.

Carl Hooper provides decent value in every aspect of the game - batting, bowling as a 5th option, and fielding.

Allan Lamb was definitely a character of the 80s! Pretty good batsman too.

Known protector of cricketing integrity Lou Vincent will bat and probably keep for Procter.

Ashwell Prince was a pretty decent middle-order batsman for South Africa in the noughties. I'd have considered a bowler here, although I suppose Kendroid already has "two".

A lean pool of players. Ryan McLaren was picked; while he isn't much more than a decent LO bowler, he will feast on pretty much any Panesar.

Clarrie Grimmett's a clear choice here.

See what I said earlier about McLaren to describe Kyle Jarvis too. He's a bit worse but also will still do the job in this draft.
