The wishlist thread

Before I give my idea, I was just to get confirmation from the producer/developer of this game that if it will be too much ask for different game modes now like carrer mode or even Be a pro mode like in EA Fifa. I don't think they would be able to create new game modes in such a short span of time.

I would be realistic in my wishlist, I hope we can have more teams this time and maybe unlicensed domestic teams and tournaments. (which we can later change ourselves through mods)

There should be option to disable/enable DRS esp for online matches. Umpire decisions should depends on type of umpire standing in ongoing match.

Before seagulls and other aesthetics I hope you guys have the simple stuff sorted out.

1) being able to see batting and bowling stats of players in a series.

2) win-loss-games attempted statistics of players online

Funnily enough, I was once involved with a game where we had the idea of having an impersonator doing lots of different famous voices.

And Billy Birmingham has come up many times as an idea...

However, there is some legal grey area, whereby if you pass off a voice as someone, who could easily be mistaken for being the real person, in a context where people might *think* it's the real person, then it's not cool.

No kidding: i do a pretty mean Boycott, but I don't think we'd get away with it. :-)

It is all very well having a wish list but without knowing what the gameplay engine can do it is a bit tricky. What all true cricket gaming fans want is a game that brings in the subtle dynamics involved in cricket, to do with physics and player skill. Each surface, each enviroment determines along with the skill of the player what the ball will or will not do. Does the match engine take account of weather, surface etcetera? Is the physical enviroment live as it were, that the ball behaves according to the minute subtleties present in that moment? Bowlers grip, weather conditions, bowlers skill, bat angle, pitch conditions etcetra. In a game like Xplane that is so advanced NASA uses it to test enviroments and plane manufacturers use it to test plane stresses and designs, the environment is alive, continually reacting to all the factors in that moment. That is the true wish for me. A dynamic, unpredicable environment operating in a subtley different way each time.

If I may be so rude to say, it is all very well having batsmen with realistic hairy arms but I would much rather have this active, dynamic live environment above all other things put together.

My wish is that there would be a review system .:D

agreed, however when requests like the one below seem to outnumber requests for improvement to gameplay it's hard blame the developers.

The shot animations can be fixed from what they were in AC09. I remember how awful it looked when I tried to advance down the wicket. Shots looked ugly as well as the batsmen. Some of the straight hits too. It looked as if the ball would go right up but, instead went for six or over the field dead straight!

Also, I remember something indicated that it's a four already even before the ball reached the fence. I wouldn't bother to run. There are many more things to say. I'll hopefully do it, if there's a response for what actually will the gameplay and AI be like..

Forget the licensing, PC mods are there. We would love a 'real' cricket game!

Alright, Wishlist? Here I go...

  • Motion Captured Animations
No idea how far along the development cycle this game is, but it's a wishlist so I "wish" (read: demand) motion captured animations. When my pixel-sized Brendon McCullum plays the scoop shot I don't want him looking like he's about to have a hernia. Hire few different young fellas from a local league, put some track markers on em and get em batting and bowling. Same goes for a more fluid camera system. Replays and pre-loaded animations (bowlers getting mouthy with the batsman) should be more varied. Also, show the umpires some love. They're not all fat overweight waddling guys... give them some unique movements and at the very least, when a guy is run out, stumped or it's a no-ball over head-high, camera should pan to the CORRECT umpire at legside.
  • Full Range of Shot Selection When Batting
I'm a big advocate for a "gradient" batting system, whereby as the batsman spends more time at the crease he becomes more comfortable and "gets himself in" therefore, a gradual 'unlocking' of shots should occur. You shouldn't be able to belt it outta the ground from ball one, or maybe just one or two players should be able to. A gradient system where you're rewarded the longer you bat would make playing the game for longer more rewarding. As more time unravels, you unlock more and more shots. Kinda like a rewards system. An idea I had was a "ticking clock" function, whereby once you had faced x amount of balls or spent x amount of time in the middle, a bunch of shots become available for a short time, then the clock starts ticking again to unlock a "power" shot level, once that's unlocked, you're past 50 runs and have the full "wagon wheel" available. That dynamic system would obviously need to go faster for shorter versions and longer for test versions. But I think a gradual unlocking of shot options, rather than a "confidence" meter is the better way to go. OR... a "specialist shot" for a player, whereby, unique players have a special shot only they can play once your ticking clock is full. Scoop Shots, Leg Slogs, Reverse Sweeps etc. Kinda like a "finishing move" in wrestling games, but in cricket terms. Same function could be used for bowlers.
  • Simplified Bowling System
Face it, nobody gives a rats hoot n toot about bowling in cricket games... certainly not when you're playing by yourself, if you play online... you just want to get it over and done, with minimal damage. The bowling (when user-controlled) should be a little more user intuitive and a simple "best delivery" option would suffice, whereby, if you can't be faffed picking your deliveries just hit the "best delivery" button and you can cut the corner. Again, a rewards system to unlock special deliveries for players would make this element of the game more interesting.

  • Career Mode
Create-a-player is a given... neat, but what about an actual CAREER mode. Again, would make longevity of the game far more interesting, where you can mold a player through his career... from domestic to international cricket and beyond (IPL?). Would put a unique twist on the create-a-player concept and again, be more interesting to tweak a player you've made over time, earning your selection for ODI, Test and T20 teams and so on. Could be an interesting concept...

Quick Wishes
  1. Daniel Vettori needs glasses, and there should be a "Glasses" option for all players, sunnies, or spectacles. Such an annoying feature left out of more recent games.
  2. License all of the crickets. Australia and England are just nifty, but please try and get as many teams as possible (and domestic too). Players names, are neither here nor there, since it's a given we can add those manually ourselves, but team uniform downloads (or a create-a-kit option in-game perhaps?), domestic teams, even just a few for 'warm-up' matches, is really important... speaking of which...
  3. Tour Mode. Again, a no-brainer... but I'd like to see a return of the old 07 feature where you did a TOUR of countries (again, could be built into Career Mode perhaps?)
  4. Covers, Rain, Weather, Streakers and the ability to play in Dubai please.
  5. Pigeons on the field.

I'm sure I'll think of more, but those are just a few off the top of my head. Engage the fans, is my final advice... engage, listen and take the criticism (and the love) constructively. Look forward to seeing a bunch of cool screenshots!

Agree with each point Biggs said. There really should be a career mode, where we have to earn our selection.

Just me and Zim I think. I always think of bowling in cricket games as something more suited to the intellectuals Brits rather than Big Bash Antipodeans ;)
Personally I don't give a rats hoot n toot about batting...
