The wishlist thread

It's tricky in two player but in one player, as Zim, said it needs to be late but not so late you just guess the shot.

Played IC10 again last night and some wishlists as follows:

Player models

One reason why I still like EA Cricket 2004 is due to different player builds.
Do not want every player 6ft as per IC10.

Ideally you can set height of every player as you wish, as per Fifa, but realistically just copy C04

They had 3 builds, small, medium, and large. doesn't sound much but made such a difference when playing. Tendulkar looked more like him even without face likeness, and tall fast bowlers can at least look like tall fast bowlers etc

Fielding - direct run outs

Everyone knows fielding needs some work. My suggestion is regarding direct run out attempts. In IC10 it was automatic with no human input.

Firstly to create direct run out attempts, please don't make the WK rush to the wicket as soon as ball is attempted to be hit. Same for bowler. This will allow for potential overthrows if stumps are missed

Then whenever ball is played within the circle, and Program identifies a chance of a run out, you should have option similar for a catch in IC10

I.e. circle that starts at red, then goes amber then green, then red

If you press when circle is green, the ball will hit the stumps direct. Press when Amber, 50/50 whether stumps are hit. Press when red and stumps are missed and chance for overthrows

How fast the circle goes from red/amber/green/red should be determined as follows:

  • Accuracy stat of fielder
  • How far fielder is from stumps - the closer you are, the slower the colours change etc

Would also need option to not go for run out attempt when presented to you, otherwise I reckon the above would work fine

Outfielders
They need to dive and try to stop the ball at the boundary, and not as in IC10 stop and watch ball go over rope
Ideally have fielders work in relay to throw ball back, but even just diving etc would be an improvement

Just thought of another

Rain

BLC 99 implemented rain in tests perfectly - start of each day, % change of rain was displayed and then rain was implemented accordingly. Time was simply lost. Some basic animations were used to denote the rain but it worked

no game since has implemented rain and no idea why? (espeically for tests as its so simple)

Variable conditions
Following on from point above, BLC 99 had variable weather conditions but no game since has

For tests, have chance of different overhead conditions each day. Ideally have weather forcasts for each session of test (so 15 in total) prior to commencing match so can plan composition of XI and whether to bat or ball first etc

For ODI/T20, have weather forecast per innings so with chance of different weather as match progresses

I totally agree how it's ridiculous that in the 13 years since BLC 99 was released no game has reproduced these things properly. We get told that things that were standard then are now too hard to include.
Stat tracking, weather, tours etc.
Starting from scratch is all very well but one of the reasons people supported AC09/IC10 was for the promise that these features would actually get added in the next edition. As it is all the development time seems to get spent designing a "new game engine" and "new player models" and nothing ever gets done about depth.

Key word that pops up time and time again: depth! What do we want? DEPTH! When do we want it? This time round!

Everybody....(to the tune of "give me hope johanna")

Give us depth, oh Jamie, give us depth, give us depth,
Untill the morning comes.......

Just me and Zim I think. I always think of bowling in cricket games as something more suited to the intellectuals Brits rather than Big Bash Antipodeans ;)
Personally I don't give a rats hoot n toot about batting...

Nah, I am with you on the bowling front. Often skipped batting innings to getbon with the bowling. Love trying, within the limited parameters of the game, to set fields and bowl tactics to get em out. Bowling is to cricket what Jam is to Peanut Butter sandwich.

I think Bowling and Fielding are the two real opportunities to really knock a cricket game out of the park, pun intended. Batting is already pretty close to decent in C09/10 just the animations need (A LOT) of work. The basic mechanics are there. Bowling and fielding could do with a really nice tweak or two to make it compelling in the game.

Especially things like slower deliveries, out the back of the hand disguised deliveries wouldn't need too many animation tweaks, it would be down to the AI being smart enough to "disguise" those kinda deliveries, and vice versa, players being rewarded for varying their deliveries.

Really just depends on what "from the ground up" really means. At the end of the day, stuff like variable weather and tours is just as more important.

This is my big concern with AC13

Only one person has said "rain"! For me a test match is made alot more exciting if you loose some time due to rain or bad light. Obviously that would be dependant on the conditions you set. I know thats not everyones cup of tea, but it must be simple to have a "weather on/off" option.

Next comes yorkers being hit for 6. I swear once i had a perfect line and length yorker smashed for 6 at square leg! Some kind of realistic shot mechanics please.

Much improved fielding please! Needs to have a dive on the boundry option in there somewhere.

Theres so many things to ask for, but realistically we have to understand that only so much can be done. I personaly am happy with things like what the grounds/pitch looked like. Those were just cosmetic things that can be altered in patches or even later games. Commentary is the same. As long as its different and entertaining, it wouldnt bother me if someone in the development team did it. As long as it was delivered right. Its a solid cricket experience im looking for.
Then anything else can be ironed out at a later date.

One last thing to agree with other posts. There MUST be an option to save online. That cant be hard just to save the game then restart it another time. It just cant be hard at all. Im not remotely interested in t20 cricket, so i dont get to play online test. Playing an ODI for 3 hours in go isnt realistic!

Pretty much what Dutchad highlighted on gameplay, and also more match options. A scenario editor also would be good. But I'd prefer gameplay as the first, and must.

Helicopter shot, upper cut,dil scoop please add these shots in ai.
Ross taylors powerfull onside pulls, kohli flicks, bravos offside six shot one he has played vs mumbai indians in ipl 2012

For me make the bowling more interesting, especially spinners, I'm not bothered about batting, it's all about earning the wicket

Spinners need to be able to hold down an end not get launched all over the place, close catching off spinners and make sure when it says you are playing on say a hard pitch that the spinner doesn't come in on day one and start turning it 90 degrees like ic10

Don't care about kits and names, just let me battle for an hour for a wicket, I don't wanna skittle teams out for less than 100 and finish a test on day 2..!

Agreed. I wonder how many of us can truly put their hand up and say they have had a fistpumping, sweatdrenched, estatic moment, where you leap off your chair giving the cat a high five, in a cricket game because you have got it right and know that it was your hard work that got you that wicket, that winning run, that amazing run-out? I certainly cant remember one of my own although I have them all the time with other games I play

I have them all the time with other games I play

Used have them all the time on the early year 2000s pro evos on ps2

30 yarder underside of the bar and in,,,and in the last minute after being totally dominated all game and nicking it 1-0, amazing matches where anything could literally happen.
