There is something missing from ic 2010.

I love this game. Just started playing with HUD off for batting and it is a real challenge. The pitch icon could come on a little earlier but I don't really care as it has become the ultimate challenge. I am not totally in agreement with those that say it isn't cricket with batting HUD off as you have to guess each ball. After a while you get a little used to the pace but never can get over the top of it which makes it a very interesting and challenging experience. I still bowl with minimum HUD and have yet to try bowling without it but something says to me there will be more no balls than there should be. Batting against spinners is a challenge but you can watch the ball out of the hand which gives you that little extra time to play a shot. I am none for 35 after 20 overs at the moment and have had to concentrate as much as actually being out there. This game offline is a gazillion times better than Ashes and because I don't care that much about the animations as I find them no worse and probably better than the previous version. What is missing is the ability to duck a bouncer which is in most games and the ability to move a fielder from a predefined field rather than having to make a custom field. A few more fielding positions like 07 would also make it that bit better. Overall though it is a very good GAME and should be applauded as such. Those that winge about the quality should learn to make their own game and move on in life.

We pay for the game, we are entitled to make an opinion

Of course you are, but surely you can be far more constructive than just saying it's rubbish?? It's obvious you don't like it due to the fault with online play, and all we ever heard from you in regards to AC09 was how you were the best in the world at it! Offline it is a vast improvement gameplay wise imo, but it remains to be seen if it has longevity, which AC09 did not have in the slightest

I have played it offline and online. The game has too many gimmicks IMO.

I was excited by the new camera angles. Batting from the new angle is not very enjoyable. It is not 360 degree vision; you have a view of less than 180 degree of your surroundings.

Bowling from that angle is unworkable.

Another gimmick is the ability to look for the gaps in the field, why do you need that when you have HUD?

Another gimmick is the ability to look at you partner and the crease when you are running. The only problem is that you are running as though you are running on sand with 20kg weight tied behind your back.

They should have left the game as it was in AC2009, just fix the bowling length and online lag problems with the fast bowlers and quitters. They really need to work on the crowd aspect of the game like FIFA series. I want to feel the crowd’s involvement in the game especially when you have a tense moment.. In the present state you are playing as no one exists in the crowd.

Did I say I am the best? lol. I don't mean it when I say it, I say it to put pressure on my opponents, and I know they read these forums. There are some quality players playing AC2009, you win some you lose some. I have not lost many.
.

Now that's much better, you have made some valid points, which I also agree with. With regards to the action cam at first when it came to bowling I completely disliked it but now I have got used to it I quite like it but there is definately scope for improvement as it feels a bit too far removed.

The sound is lacking in all departments from the commentary that hasn't changed much in years and is so repatative, to the dull sound of bat and ball ( edges sound like the ball hitting pad for example) and then you have the inane chatter in the crowd!:doh

I never had the chance to play the patched version of 09 and gave up playing my copy after just a few week's which says a lot considering I played BL99 and EA07 for year's on and off, but I really do feel that IC2010 has a lot of playabilty for test cricket, it just remains to be seen if I am still saying this a few weeks from now. Hopefully so....

I have nevery liked playing cricket games offline for a long period of time. For me it is just to get the feel of the game, learn the controls and timing etc. Once you you have figured those things out then playing against CPU becomes far too easy for it to be enjoyable.

I find it really hard to like the IC2010 in it's present form. Too many promises but very few delivered IMO. Let's wait for the patch and see if things improve.

Has the game sold as many copies as AC2009?

someone called it glitchy and they are so bang on.

IC2010 has two good ideas (action cam, rapid moving of bowling marker) but doesnt let me do things that i could in ashes 09. ashes had closure. whatever was available, worked. IC2010 OTOH is so glitchy (backfoot heaves to yorkers), so half-cooked (action cam), so lame (online's borked) that it doesnt even deserve to be called a 'game'. good game? that's just you not getting over the action cam bit. :facepalm

I will ignore the ██████ bit.
Action cam is not a new idea for a cricket game. This game is better than Ashes purely and simply because you can have a decent competitive game offline. You can adjust the settings to make it more difficult. In ashes you could also adjust the settings and still watch the AI get run out 5 or 6 times an innings. You could also watch the AI smash you all over the park and average 8 - 10 runs an over in test cricket. Yes it all worked as an arcade type childrens game which you obviously enjoy playing. Scoring 400 in 50 overs in a test match is not a game. Ashes allowed that I believe, did it not. Maybe your just pissed with the online play. Sorry to hear that but I don't play online so it doesn't bother me. As for yorkers being backfoot "heaved" in this game, everything got "heaved" in 09
What things did 09 allow you to do that this game doesn't?
Possibly being able to score 1000 in less than 60 overs perhaps, or finishing a test match in one day.
Define what you call glitchy. I have a PS3 running on a stable electricity supply in Australia and the frame rates are spot on.

Keep it constructive guys! And swearing will not be tolerated. Thanks.

Good points Melucas. It does seem to offer better offline play than AC2009. If that is all you play then it is a much better game than AC2009. Do most people buy just for offline play? From my point of view, I am not even bother to play a sports game which you can not play online whether it is cricket, teenis, or football.
