England brittle in the middle order. Now imagine if Bottler scores a century. I can forsee a few selection headaches. No Sidebottom. Would've liked to see him given a game. He could add so much depth to the attack if he's in form.
Geez apart from Katich and Hussey our middle order was terrible. It's unacceptable really. Johnson batted alright as well. Hussey will gain a lot of confidence from his innings. Rashid wouldn't be happy with his effort, he needs a big second innings bowling performance.
I wonder if there's a case for putting Johnson up the order. 7 or dare i say 6 if North doesn't come good. Play him like Flintoff. Perhaps too much responsibility. After all Siddle and the remaining bowlers would need to pull their weight. Lol didn't know Botham predicted an easy victory for the English. Shouldn't commentate...
Isn't Flintoff meant to be fit for the 1st Test? That would mean one of those guys will miss out. But I would take that, means it will be easier to get to the tail
Harmy bowled well though especially first up with the new ball, he won't get the new ball if he plays which is why I wouldn't risk him. Hughes looked all at sea from the first ball, was great to watch .
He certainly has talent with the bat but its like us batting Johnson at 7. I wouldn't consider them good enough to hold a spot in the top 7 yet. But at 8 there isn't the pressure to make runs like there is at 7.
Gilly at one point averaged 60 in Test cricket, I don't think Johnson is anywhere near that level yet. If he becomes more consistent, it might be an option in the future but his Test average of 34 isn't good enough to make the top 7.
