Unluckiest Cricket Player

That's the stupidest thing i've ever heard.

For starters you read it and really, is it?

He makes a valid point and a lot of people mentioned in this thread aren't unlucky in the true sense of the word; it's down to factors that they may be able to change.

What's sad?

He's made a great comeback, is it because he's not captian?

The selectors are threatning to drop him unless he scores a 50 in every match and keeps his strikerate above 95. This is creating a pressure around him which is affecting his batting very much. Is this the kind of treatment a player like Ganguly deserves from the selectors?

You can't expect anyone to score 50 in every match at a strike rate above 95. You can't expect many players to do that. Surely they can't of said that.

How is it? Flintoff's way of bowling with his ankle position is why he gets injured, and Bond's action probably contributes a lot to injuries. I'm not sure about this but people with more economical action ie McGrath, Clark, Vaas probably don't get injured nearly as much.

And they bowl slow. Fast bowling isn't easy on the body. Some people are just born to take more stress on it then others.

I see your point, but they're till unlucky to be injured.

I misread his post initially.

Sourav Ganguly: The best captain of india..........got dropped because of off-form in 2005.......made a fairytale comeback nearly two years later............. but good things never last long. Look at him now..................really very very sad.

What has happened to your knowledge of test cricket. He is outscoring every other indian batsmen in last 3 test series.

LOL.

Not sad at all, Indian cricket is moving on and it just so happens that we have new talent waiting to take Ganguly's place, it's just the way it is. As you said, everything with a beginning has an end.

Probably Badrinath for India, he has been outscoring everyone in DC and never gets a chance for the National Team...

Badrinath should have been selected in place of P.Kumar.
Also Munaf Patel for his mistery injuries.

as someone said earlier, simon jones has taken a lot of peoples' bad luck for himself, hope he is fit for the next ashes series here...

Tinu Youhanan and Iqbal Siddiqui.Had an outstanding debut against England at Mohali. But were dropped after regulars trooped in and were never heard of again.

I don't think that most players who are injured are unlucky. It's due to bad fitness, or bad bowling technique. Eg. Flintoff, or Bond. If you keep getting injured then it's not bad luck - it just means that that aspect of cricket is letting you down.

Was just going to post that but you beat me to it.

I really feel for Jones - he is my favourite bowler, and with all he has had to go through it is heartbreaking.

Still, hopefully the change to Worcestershire will help him...

Darren Lehmann. If he'd been born in another country he would definitely have played 100+ test.
