West Indies Tour of Australia 2010

Yes! Good dumb Australian selectors, now Tim Paine will be able to play for Tassie:D

*Faints*

Finally the selectors are blooding are new player. I did expect him to replace Hauritz but would have liked it over a batsmen so we can see his batting skills and then use his bowling as part time for now but I'll take it!

T20 squad to face Windies
17 February, 2010

Cricket Australia’s National Selection Panel (NSP) has today announced a 14-man squad for the two KFC Twenty20 Internationals against West Indies in Hobart (Sunday) and Sydney (Tuesday).

The squad is:
Michael Clarke (c) (NSW)
Cameron White (vc) (VIC)
Travis Birt (TAS)
Daniel Christian (SA)
Brad Haddin (NSW)
Ryan Harris (QLD)
David Hussey (VIC)
Mitchell Johnson (WA)
Shaun Marsh (WA)
Dirk Nannes (VIC)
Steven Smith (NSW)
Shaun Tait (SA)
David Warner (NSW)
Shane Watson (NSW)

Commenting on the squad, NSP Chairman Andrew Hilditch said:

“The NSP has selected a 14-man squad for the two KFC Twenty20 Internationals against the West Indies in Hobart and Sydney as we continue our preparation looking ahead to ICC World Twenty20 to be held in the Caribbean in a few months time.

“The squad remains the same as the group that travelled to Melbourne for the last Twenty20 when Australia defeated Pakistan, the current world champions of shortest format. In addition, we have added Dan Christian to the squad as we continue to look at various options and the balance of the team leading into the ICC World Twenty20.

“Dan has been selected on the back of a successful KFC Twenty20 Big Bash campaign for South Australia and continued good form recently. We see Dan as an explosive all-rounder who could have a good impact for us in Twenty20 internationals.”

Congrats to Christian well deserved selection, Hastings a bit unlucky as hes also been in Christian like form. Its good to see our selectors finally picking a more T20 based lineup, bit surprising that Mike Hussey isn't there. Has he retired from T20? As he better not randomly turn up in our WC T20 squad having missed these squads.

Noo, John Hastings! I am very disappointed

At least Steve Smith is in the ODI side! Yes!

I'd have liked to see Voges and Hopes replaced with some young batsmen though :(

And why are we bringing Haddin back for a dead game? Matty Wade lives in Melbourne ;)

Just cant take Australian 2020 cricket seriously with Clarke as Captain. I understand that they want to groom him for Tests but ODI would be the way to go. Clarke should not even be playing 2020s.

Agreed. He's to inhibited to play T20s.

During the Sydney ODI game, someone on Cricinfo sent in a e-mail asking if Dan Christian was far away from making the Australian side. Someone sent a reply basically saying people that are retired have a better chance of getting picked so when I heard Christian was in the squad I laughed.

I think they were mostly trying to make a joke about the chances of any South Australia player.

I find Clarke's T20 captaincy is only half frustrating. He might not be the best batsman, but he is a decent captain.
