CHANDERPAUL OUT

LARA REACHES 50

Brian Lara has again been the only player to offer resistance against the formidable Aussie pace attack. Lara has reached a hard fought 50 by being the only person able to score of the attack frequently and fluently. Lara has scored many runs of Lee by counter attacking his wide. Instead of nudging at the swinging deliveries he has smashed them through point and cover, resulting in many runs.

B.Lara 50*
X.Marshall 13*
WIN: 3/82

WIN: 83/3

G.McGrath 2/22 (12)
B.Lee 0/40 (9)

MARSHALL GONE

The Australians have made another crucial breakthrough in the first day of the test. Marshall was the man who has finally been caught after making a good impression early on. Marshall followed Lara?s lead and looked to attack the bowlers. This worked for a while but in the end he tried to smack a McGrath slower ball out of the park and was caught at mid-on. McGrath now has 3 wickets as the Windies need to build up a new partnership.

MCGRATH AGAIN

The Windies are staring down the barrel after another wicket has fallen. McGrath bowled a sharp bouncer to bravo who looked to fend it off. Unfortunately the ball flicked his gloved and flew up into the air over Adam Gilchrist to Matthew Hayden at first slip. It was an extremely unlucky way to get out but the McGrath ball that put him in that position was just too good.

B.Lara 76*
D.Ramdin 0*
WIN: 5/132

G.McGrath 4/30 (16)
B.Lee 0/67 (15)
S.Warne 1/34 (9)

RAMDIN OUT AFTER START

Brett Lee has claimed his first wicket to give the advantage back to the Aussies. Lee bowled a ball which was just short of a length. Ramdin, who was on the attack looked to cut the ball past point for 4 which he had done before. However this time he wasn?t into position quick enough and feathered one through to the keeper Gilchrist. The Aussies now need to maintain the pressure and not give away too many extra runs.

B.Lee 1/88 (22)

That's well recovered by the windies... they still need to get over the 250 mark to stay in this game though. Great bowling, its paying off.

King Lara rocks! Ramdin was unlucky. Good fight back by the windies. Go Cricket_60 go!

WINDIES FALL SHORT OF 250

The West Indians will be annoyed with themselves after staging a strong comeback not to get to 250. The tail batted slowly and as a result when the wickets came, not many runs had been scored. The Aussies pace bowlers did take a bit of a hammering early on (mainly Lee) but fought back well to each claim good figures. McGrath once again fired with another 5 wicket haul.
