LANGER REACHES 50 AT TEA

Justin Langer has finally touched into that vein of form that he found in the first two tests after reaching a half century. Langer has played slowly and has not hit many boundaries but has made runs when they really mattered. Langer will now be looking to forge a partnership with Hussey at the other end.

M.Hussey 10*

LANGER GONE

The Australians are in a shambles after the only man who had played sensibly lost his head. Just Langer, looking to score quickly tried to heave one over the infield but lost sight of the ball and was stumped well by Ramdin for 68. Things were just looking up for the Aussies as Langer and Gilchrist had put on a 40 run partnership.

GILCHRIST KNOCKED OVER

The Aussies are now in the final stages of defeat after loosing Gilchrist for 39. The Keeper was playing well but again a rash shot threw away any chanced of a win. Gilchrist tried to slog a fuller pitched ball over the top of mid off but was beaten for pace was bowled comprehensively. Again the Australians have faltered chasing down a low score as their notorious reputation grows.

WINDIES WIN FINAL GAME

The West Indian supporters went wild as the final wicket of Brett Lee fell. They have been through hell and back to watch the Windies finally beat the seemingly untouchable Aussies. Ricky Ponting was the first man out onto the ground to shake Chanderpaul's hand and congratulate him on a marvellous perfomance by the Windies. Even some final desperate hitting by Brett Lee who was named MOM for his 141/7 could not get the Aussies over the line. The Series was still however won by the Aussies 5-1.

PONTING TALKS

Ricky Ponting has held a press conference after his teams crushing 5-1 defeat over the West Indies. He was slightly annoyed about his team's performance at the WACA today but was confident that they could carry some of their winning form over to the ODI's. "I was a little surprised at how badly we batted today considering that we have been on a roll for most of the series" "I suppose we had a bad day, and to their credit they bowled a good line and length and kept us away when it mattered" When asked if he was worried about his own personal form Ponting immediately dismissed the question "I'm not the slightest bit concerned." He was also asked if their would be any changes other then the obvious ones to the squad. "Yes but don't bother asking because you won't get an answer." Ponting then called the conference to an end and went off to a well deserved celebration with his team mates.

Wow! A great turn around, though it came awfully late in the series. Great story to the boot mate. Are you going to continue this or do a new one?

MAN OF THE SERIES ANNOUNCED

There was only really one player who could have been awarder this medal. He played definitely the most consistent out of any of his team mates or opposition and contributed more with the bat for his team then any other player. The Man of the Series for the Australia V West Indies series is... BRIAN LARA

1ST ODI AT PERTH D/N

Welcome to the first One Day International between the Aussies and the West Indians. We have seen some great play from both sides in the tests and I'm sure everyone can't wait for the first ball to be bowled.

The Teams

Australia

A.Gilchrist
S.Katich
R.Ponting
D.Martyn
A.Symonds
M.Clarke
M.Hussey
B.Hogg
B.Lee
N.Bracken
G.McGrath

West Indies

D.Ramdin
C.Gayle
B.Lara
S.Chanderpaul
R.Sarwan
X.Marshall
W.Hinds
F.Edwards
D.Bravo
J.Lawson
T.Best

The Pitch

This is a very similar pitch to the one in the last test. It will have plenty of pace and bounce and should benefit the paceman greatly. The winning team will be the one that bats first in my book. As although it might zip around early, The pitch will be a batsmen's paradise for the first 50 overs before it start to break down a little.

The Toss

The West Indians have won the toss and elected to bat. No surprises there.

Now lets head down to the ground for the start of play...

Ramdin opening instead of Hinds?
Edwards batting above Bravo?
Tino Best at 11? (He is probably the best batter out of Edwards, Lawson and himself. Maybe even Marshall)

Oh well. Lets see how it goes :)

UPDATE: FIRST 15 OVERS

Things aren?t looking good for the Windies early in this game, Gayle, Ramdin and Chanderpaul are all back in the pavilion after some good bowling from the Aussie quicks. Ramdin was the first to go; He played at an off cutter from Lee which he spooned in the air to cover. Gayle soon followed as he tried to hit a fuller McGrath ball out of the park. Chanderpaul was the final man; Lee bowled a superb bouncer which Chanderpaul tried to fend of but only got a nick to the keeper Gilchrist. The Aussies continually applied pressure in the field which led to mistakes by the batsmen and more opportunities. The Windie batsmen need to last in these crucial overs?

B.Lara 17*
R.Sarwan 7*
WIN: 3/60

G.McGrath 1/10 (5)
B.Lee 2/41 (7)
N.Bracken 0/9 (3)
