UPDATE: AUSSIES WIN COMFORTABLY

The Australians have acheived their 2nd victory of the series with a crushing 7 wicket win with still 20 overs to be bowled. They only lost 2 more wickets in Ricky Ponting and Simon Katich, Ponting was out caught on the deep point fence and Katich was bowled trying to cover drive and inswinger. Martyn and Symonds played controlled innings and resisted the temptation of going for slogs when they came close to the target. The Windies will now need to look at their batting lineup again before the next match...

3RD ODI WASHED OUT!

A major blow for the series has occured as the Bellerive oval has been washed out. Shiv chanderpaul was devastated, "We really needed this game to come back at the Aussies like we did in Perth. I guess you can;t have everything." Ricky Ponting was also dissapointed not to be playing "There's nothing the curator can really do against the weather, he can try and cover the pitch during the day, but when you get 5 hours of rain during the night you have virtually no hope of a game."" I would have loved to have played infront of my home crowd but I guess it wasn't to be."

The next ODI is schedualed for Melbourne...

Great Story mate, lovely graphics, and to borrow a word used by a lot of people, "enthralling" :)

The Pitch

This MCG pitch is grassy, It will favour the seamers immensly so expect to see many edges early. I score of around 250 will be very hard to chase down so both the teams bowling and batting first have a some hard work ahead of them...

The Toss

The Toss has been won by the Windies again who have elected to bowl. A real advantage for the visitors here...

Now lets head down to the action...

UPDATE: 10 OVERS

The Australians have made a shaky start to their innings. The grassy pitch has lived up to it's name, with the ball zipping around the pitch which seems to have disturbed the Aussie batsmen. More then one nick has gone past the cordion as the Aussies look to survive these difficult overs. Adam Gilchrist again failed, scoring only 4 before being caught on the boundary at fine-leg. Ponting was drawn into a cover drive and paid the price when he nicked it to Ramdin. The Aussies need keep working hard and not lose concentration...

S.Katich 14*
D.Martyn 1*
AUS: 2/31
RR: 3.1

J.Lawson 0/18 (5)
T.Best 2/12 (5)

Promising start for the Windies. Interesting to see if they will be able to build on it by not letting the Australians get on top. I doubt though.

I would just like to remind everyone that this is the final game of this thread. I cut it down from 6 ODI's to 4. It is getting a little tedious and I'm dying to start a new thread soon ;)

UPDATE: 20 OVERS

The Aussies have comeback well after a slow start. Martyn and Katich have put on a solid partnership and are now looking to attack after seeing off the new ball. They aren't traveling at their usual pace but are going well considering the pitch. The Windies need to break this partnership otherwise they could be chasing up to 280+...

S.Katich 47*
D.Martyn 26*
AUS: 2/97
RR: 4.8

J.Lawson 0/46 (10)
T.best 2/22 (6)
O.Banks 0/27 (4)

UPDATE: 30 OVERS

The Australians have increased the run rate but have lost 3 wickets in the process. The first to go was Martyn, He was caught behind off Banks as he tried to cover drive through the gap. Symonds was then bowled for just 16 in what has been a dissapointing tour for him. Katich was the final man out, He misstimed a pullshot which was caught at fine leg. Katich was obviously annoyed to have gotten out after such a good start. the game is currently well balanced...

M.Clarke 21*
M.Hussey 8*
AUS: 5/167
RR: 5.5

J.Lawson 1/46 (10)
D.Bravo 0/27 (4)
O.Banks 2/61 (8)
T.Best 2/31 (8)

** Because of EA's bowl more then 10 overs glitch Lawson bowled around 14 so I will be counting the rest of his overs as Bravo's. I will still give the wickets to Lawson though.
