Surpirsed the Roach dismissal wasn't overturned. Hotspot clearly showed that he didn't hit it. Why look at Hotspot if your going to ignore it?
exactly what i was saying, but as some people like to think quote "Hot-spot doesn't pick up faint edges" unquote

there should be no 3rd umpire. as they are also known as "TV UMPIRE" there should be a TV umpire, literally. the thing should give it out/not out. no human needed. they are biased

The only thing going in Watson's favour if he's up against Swayze is at least Watson didnt sing She's Like The Wind. That is a crap song!

It was a good effort in the end from the Windies considering Australia were dominating for most of the test, and I'm sure they'd be pleased with how close they came to nearly winning the match.

TBH, Bollinger deserved MOTM more than Gayle. Gayle was great, but not really the innings that was needed by his team.

got to say, there's a fair bit of providence in todays events.

dhoni gets a 2 match ban for slow over rate, Benn gets a ban for playing a part in an on-field incident and australians get off with fines (and also Ponting has been behind the over rate in at least 3 matches in very recent memory, SL T20, CT semi, 4th ODI in india).

Now, I think you could argue that everyone got the right punishment, dhoni was way behind, ponting has only been a couple behind, i think the benn/haddin one is a bit hmmm, but you could still reasonably argue that it's all fair.

But lets not kid ourselves, it looks very bad and I wouldn't be surprised if Match Refs came under a bit of scrutiny from fans for a while. Broad particularly in the firing line.

And with this win, Ponting equals Steve Waugh with 41 Test wins as captain :clap

In ODI's he is clearly ahead of everyone, nobody will ever beat that record.

Enough lads please.

Because the commentators neglected to mention the last set of replays - the ones that included sound. The TV umpire is allowed to use the sounds captured to try and guess what happened - he just can't use snicko. There was a faint noise as the ball passed the bat. Snicko later confirmed that noise 5 minutes later. But you have to remember that the TV umpire was looking for ANY evidence that supported Bowden's call of out, as under the new rules the UMPIRE'S CALL gets the benefit of the doubt, not the batsman. The sound was what he was looking for...

Claims that the system is broken is just crap. Why? Because fans base it on the commentators opinions and half the time they don't mention all the factors (like using sound).

I can see him or the other 2 doing the same thing and not getting punished properly.

can you blame them?
Would you blame me if I thought that all West Indian fans were sore losers based on your performance in this thread?

You're going way overboard on this one. It was an animated celebration, sure, but it wasn't the worst thing in the world. Benn's offence was physical, which makes it clearly worse.
