West Indies Tour of England - May to June 2012

Pollard has hardly played any FC games, 22 matches in 4 and a half years? Though, got to be worth a go given how Edwards is going.

Powell (9 from 20) and Edwards (0 from 3) out for single figures already in the match at Grace Road. One of the friendliest attacks on the county. Powell seems to be okay if he isn't driving...
He's a loose driver, isn't he? Reminds me of Mukund last year, but alarmingly perhaps a little bit better if only because he has probably gotten as many away as he's gotten out to. Openers these days... I mean Boycott's mother's rhubarb must be spinning.

Why don't they bring back Runako Morton? Then again he was a bit of a loose driver as well.

Great to see Gayle back, could be the beginning of the end of the Sammy era of captaincy finally.

Without KP, that team could potentially beat England in the ODI series.

despite i had supported Sammy Captaincy. With Gayle coming back, I think it time to Move one WICB, and top Making Bloopers. I wanna Win now, it's been like 15 VERY long long long years. I really dont think gayle should be de Captain. Wish Dwayne Bravo or D Ramdin take up that job IF they plan to sack sammy as Captain. Bravo ahead of Ramdin.
Reason why not Gayle, I would like Gayle to do what he does best Bat, and bat and bat. which keep that extra Perssure of him as a Captain.

But Any way. LOOK Out England This is WI fully Strength Team :) and yeah I miss KP. it's going to be be an awesome Show down Between the two Teams. After the Miserable Test.

Someone in that team has to make room for Russell. He has been in great form for the WI team and is too valuable in all aspects of the game to be left out. I would drop Rampaul or Edwards and bat Russell at 7 ahead of Ramdin.

for me this squad looks very nice for t20 5 all rounders in the team and a very big hitters as well. west indies are lacking in experience player like of sarwan and chanderpaul who can hold the inning and set a flat form for a batsmen's like pollard ,bravo and russel

He is dead bro, died in an accident. May his soul RIP!!!

What about Sammy making way? I don't see how we can miss him to be honest, but I agree with you Russell has to play and he is much more potent with bat and ball than Sammy is!

It was a sad and poor attempt at a joke by the fool. Just ignore the trolls...

Well that would be option #1 but its not happening. At least until WI gets a new cricket board or a player that is consistent across all 3 formats emerges and performs better then Sammy.

Fair point, didn't know how much first class cricket he'd played but :

1st Class : 22 matches, 1316 runs @ 37.60 (7 wkts @ 49.85)
ODIs : 56 matches, 1288 runs @ 26.28 & 38 wkts @ 35.28
T20Is : 22 matches, 245 runs @ 15.31 & 11 wkts @ 34.72

List A : 78 matches, 1960 runs @ 30.62 & 67 wkts @ 25.94
T20s : 153 matches, 2817 runs @ 28.17 & 131 wkts @ 22.34

Obviously a big preference for 20 over cricket, but if he only bowled a bit and played more as a batsman in Tests there's no reason to think he can't play number six. windies aren't exactly strong at the top of the order so their batting might as well be 'long'. It's not as if he seems to be doing much other than playing IPL and limited overs for windies, when did he last play a first class game?

Looks like being a wet Test match (after a couple of weeks of some fair weather, it's gone wet and mild again). I really want to see Onions play, but I do with Finn too. I don't see them resting/dropping Broad.

Re: Pollard, yup, should be worth a go, but WIndies need to sort out their issue with IPL, actually the whole world of cricket does, but affects them more because the talent pool isn't that big.

I think Barath is a keeper, although he hasn't had big scores, the potential is there and he's had some good knocks, if not high in runs. Bravo we all know about and Samuels has matured well on this tour.

Edwards record is very good, but he's been horrific on this tour, got to be up there with one of the worst performances on a tour ever. Powell as has been alluded to just can't drive, and that's fatal for someone batting in the top 3.

If Sammy can turn himself in to an all-rounder and build on that century then I think he probably should be in the side, as Dwayne Bravo doesn't seem to do Tests any more. But as a bowler (yes, I know he did well here on his last tour) he shouldn't be anywhere near the side.

Steven Davies, the Surrey wicketkeeper, has been drafted into the England squad for the third Test against West Indies after Matt Prior picked up an eye infection.

Poor Davies...He is currently playing a CC game....he has to rush to join the English team & if Prior is declared fit...again he has to rush back to join the Surrey team :lol....so, some running around work for Davies...

It is one of the reasons I sometimes avoid coming on here and when I do, don't get involve in discussions, too jackrabbits running around!

We could start the building by selecting at least 2 teams, one for test and one for ODIs & T20, of course a few guys would be in all 3 formats, the likes of Sammy and the current top 3 would not feature in all formats. Different captains for different formats at least 2 captains.

I believe Pollard and Russell can serve our cricket in all formats, but the coach and WICB keep telling us and Pollard that he is best suited for ODIs and T20 and he has accepted and believe that and plays the part.

We may have new blood on the Board soon, get the impression that Hiliare "maybe" leaving, have not research into yet, if is true I wish he would take Butts, Gibson and Hunte with him, am not saying Gibson cannot contribute to West Indies Cricket, but maybe in more of a bowling coach role.

I like the idea of having two captains but the WI don't have a good option for tests. Ramdin is probably the best option but he needs to score some runs and also stay healthy so that he can cement a spot in the test team.

In ODis/T20 there are a few more options including Sammy.
