West Indies Tour of India - September/November 2018

Real question should be:

Why didn't the management drop Umesh inspite of his incredible spell that almost resulted in victory for Windies?

I guess the run leaker policy
No way you drops player with one failure or two.Shami need long rest before test tour, he is injury prone but take wickets when matter most in test matches.

BCCI selectors are a bunch of jokers. After Jadhav asks why he is not selected for the remaining ODI's vs West Indies, he is now included in the 4th and 5th ODI. Murali Vijay, who questioned the communication between selectors and himself, is now back for the Australia test series. Mayank Agarwal was picked in the test squad and without even getting a game, he is dropped and Vijay is brought back in. Ganguly says Rohit needs to be back in tests and Rohit is selected for Australia tests, even though Rohit has clearly shown that he is not cut out for test cricket.

Clowns, utter clowns!

I'm quite sure the selection was not because KJ "asked" why was he not selected for the ODIs, but has got more to do with back up, with the kind of stability he offers. With Kohli, MSD not in picture, the team should have someone who offers both stability and agility, and I see no other player apart from KJ who can do that. While he can't switch between gears like how Kohli does, but he is the best one available.

Mayank Agarwal was selected when circumstances were different and currently the team circumstances are different. We had Dhawan in the XI, and Dinesh Karthik, although was recalled, was at prime form.

But now, we only have Pujara, Kohli, Jinx, who are the experienced guys. Prithvi is a sure feature, inexperienced person, and it would be too daring to go with Prithvi and KLR in overseas conditions. So the obvious choice is to go with someone experienced, and with Gautam Gambhir, sadly, not being anywhere in the selection radar, the obvious choice is MVJ.

Similarly, at #6, we are playing Vihari, which again is a gamble considering that he never played cricket in Australia. Say if he fails, there should be someone who should have enough theoretical knowledge on how could they build the innings with the experience they had in the past, and if you look at the players we have, hands down it is Rohit Sharma, who is most experienced in Australia, in a different format though.

Again, if you listen to MSKP's words, he clearly mentions "Rohit is a back up," which clearly means he would be in action only if things go horribly wrong.

What has Rohit Sharma done over Karun Nair to warrant being the back up? Can you explain?

Not a fan of bringing back Bhuvi and Bumrah.. there's a lot of cricket in the works. I am absolutely hating the IPL idea just before the WC.

Karun Nair was selected only for Kumble. Kohli don't like too much disciplined minds. Nair is bit isolated in nature and he is not in the team, its very obvious. Vihari's selection over him in the recent concluded England series was a fine example of this omission.

Here is the explanation :
Past tour experiences + recent batting form + Rohit's recent wish to MSK Prasad (TEST OPENER )= Rohit Sharma's selection.

Rohit will play as a backup opener. If Rahul failed, Hitman will play with Shaw. Rohit - Shaw duo can give nightmare to Australian bowlers.

He is clearly picked as backup for middle order, not for opener position.

I am not asking for whimsical explanations? On what factual evidence has Rohit Sharma been picked in the TEST. He has played 0 4 day cricket. His LOI exploits are known forever but it has never translated into test runs. So are we saying that ODI runs will get you a test cap? And if this is an experience thing, then why not just take MSK Prasad himself?[DOUBLEPOST=1540634194][/DOUBLEPOST]This selection panel, team management and captain are a tweaking joke.

Kedar Jadhav was shocked on his omission at 6pm. MSK Prasad categorically said at 9pm that he has been dropped because of fitness history and then the next day that history suddenly gets re-written and he becomes part of the 4th and 5th ODI?

What a joke!

A big fan of Rohit, happy at a certain extent but tbfh Ro doesn't deserve it. If he at all ends up playing well it'll be a pleasant surprise.

How India's batting is dependent on Kohli, in the same way India's bowling depends on Bumrah.

I don't think so. Middle order is almost settled.
Have you ignored the tweaks and changes that's rattled our middle order when it was settled? Check what happened it the last nine months. It's not completely settled now because of the management and the selectors.

Naagin is back! :p

Not following the match. But after a long time I've seen India 2 wickets down under 100 runs. So time for the middle-order batsman to win the game.

Not following cricket much since getting a full time job, so for folks out here can you guys please answer this why is Rayudu back in the squad? Its like going back in 2015 to find the missing link in the middle order.
