This year is centenary of Russian Revolution that established first socialist country in the world and until the middle of the 20th century half of the world was under socialist regime.

but 26 years ago when USSR dissolves and neo-liberalism rises in the world.

as a Marxist-Leninist and social science scholar I believe in socialism but I would feel good to know what do you think about socialism and communism.

My Husband has read both Das Capitol and Communist manifesto and has found them both very interesting. I am not a fan of the capitalist world as I feel it is not fair and equal. However, I have read George Orwell's Animal farm and feel this would be a good society to be living it but can quickly become just like 1984 or in the end with the scene with the pigs, two legs good four legs better, yep I am fairly well read as I tend to read a lot on the train to work. Interesting discussion... I wonder who else can add to this... ?

I think in theory, communism is perfect. But not in practice.

Yes but from my point of view cold war is responsible of soviet union's dissolution.

there are few points that I know.

1. Soviet union using his most of resources to produce weapons for the war.
2. Soviet union also have to use his resources for other communist bloc countries to make sure they stay in his side.
3. The CPSU was not accountable to people and there was no option in government.
4. There was food crisis in USSR during the time of Soviet-Afghan War.

there are also many facts that I know but I will post later.

also there was no communist countries the USSR, China, North Korea, Cuba and Vietnam etc. was socialist countries cause in communist society there was no state, no class, no money and equality which most of things are utopian.

Also, if the ruling party doesn't abuse its power, than communism would be perfect. But that is never gonna happen, because the rulers won't have anyone to hold them accountable.

This is where I think, personally, the study of communism has gone a bit awry. I reckon the core of communism is probably closest to anarchist communism, in that you don't or shouldn't need the influences of the state and not have governments or rulers. It seems to me that what the history of communism has been about how to fit communism in with the Westphalian system which sets up the requirement for the need for governments etc and the two just clash too much. I think communism is one of those things that sounds good in theory, but we as a species are never going to let it happen, we are wired to try to get ahead, to equate power with safety and all these things that mean communism won't work.
