If I could play Speedball but with the modern polish and depth of NHL 13 t'would be ace.

Yeah - it's so infuriating that they messed up the Speedball reboot a few years back!

Never played speedball but did play hyperblade, which seems like the same thing

Never played hyperblade, looks fairly similar though. I must admit I remember the first Speedball as being a lot harder than deluxe. Either that or I was rubbish at it when I was a nipper.

I didn't play that, but there was a game called 'Wild Cup Soccer'; you had a team of animals instead of humans, there were weapons involved and a 'header' meant taking someone's head off. There were power ups to turn the ball into a cannonball, or make it scaling hot - it was a great game. A modern version would be so much fun (the game itself has not aged well).
