I can't agree with that. My first game was Rome TW, which I played exhaustively and exclusively with no mods or patches. Medieval II was a great game as well. Empire I didn't get until six months or so, because the period didn't interest me that much so I missed that disastrous launch. Shogun 2 was good on release as well, but Rome 2? There is just so much wrong with it.
Yes, it'll be patched/modded etc, but the problems for me run deeper than mere technical issues. A lot of the problems are there because of the game design, most notably the idiotic, bloody retarded notion of sticking 'Capture the Flag' right in the middle of a battlefield, completely draining the open battles of any strategy. Following on from that, 90% of battles are 'Minor City battles' - that is cities without walls. TW has never been good at battles through streets and this game plays to that weakness instead of its strength which is epic open field battles. And as an added bonus, all those battles feel like the same thing over and over again. Also, as 'Angry' says, the game is too bloody easy - there is no challenge!
This game is in a king-sized mess and should've been postponed the way AC13 was postponed; compared to CA (or more likely SEGA), 501 or whatever they're called have done the right thing! Rome 2 should've been amazing - the best TW of all time - instead of that, it's sitting on my shelf over there gathering dust, while its digital equivalent gathers digital dust on my HDD.
Have you bought the game then, Puddleduck? I preordered; that's the last time I do that with a TW game.
